**Description:** Join us for an evening of board games and fellowship at Jay's house in Silver Spring, MD. No experience needed — all games will be explained before we play. **Parking:** Plenty of free street parking is available on both sides of the street. Two cars are also welcome to park in my driveway. **What to Bring:** A snack or drink to share is appreciated but not required. Please bring a favorite game or two or three. **Apologies:** My two friendly Corgis (Mango and Ziggy) will bark excitedly and jump as people arrive but I promise they will calm down once everyone is here. Let's meet at the library to try two different board games, both from Canadian designers. Both games have a maximum of 4 players, so attendance will be limited. ***Reforest*** is a medium-complexity card game with light engine-building elements. Players compete to grow the healthiest forest ecosystem by arranging a synergistic tableau of plants, each with their own unique traits and abilities. ***Cupcake Empire*** is mainly a dice game. Cupcakes are at the height of fashion in the city. It's the perfect time to expand your business. Even though at the moment you only have one small Bakery, the dedication and the level of creativity of your employees means that there are no limits to your ambition. Your personal board represents your business and the dice your workers. In each of the columns of the board you can carry out one specific action; create new recipes for cupcakes, open new stores, serve customers, hire new workers, etc.

Come meet other 20s and 30s and play board games at The Spot Asian Food Hall in Rockville Town Center. We'll play from 2-4 pm but could go later if folks are interested. Bring games you'd like to play if you've got them. Since The Spot has limited seating, please keep your RSVP up to date.

There’s a beautiful outdoor beer garden in the heart of Del Ray. Let’s take advantage of the nice mild weather this week and try something new. I’ll bring a few social games that aren’t packed yet if anyone wants to play, or just come make some new friends and unwind. Friendly pups are welcome too!

***Septima*** is a competitive, highly interactive strategy game of witchcraft. As the leader of your coven, you must prove your worth in the town of Noctenburg to become the successor of Septima, the High Witch. Practice your craft and gain Wisdom by collecting herbs, brewing potions, healing the townsfolk, mastering charms and rescuing your brothers and sisters from the trials. But beware: magic, even if used for good, invokes suspicion in the townsfolk...

We will be playing **Arcs** with up to 8 players. All experience levels welcome. Expect the game teach to start promptly within the first 10 minutes. Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated, but not required. I just got mine. I don't want to get any of my friends sick! I will, however, be screening for a standard set of COVID symptoms. If you are showing any symptoms that could make people nervous, please postpone coming to the meetup till you're over it. While sneezing is not a COVID symptom, I think folks would rather not risk getting even a cold right now, so again please don't show up if this is the case, even if you're sure it is just an allergy. On the other hand, no masks are required, although feel free if it'd make you more comfortable. General day of games! Whatever folks feel like playing. Bring your own or learn a new one! If you want to play a longer game, you might want to propose it on the meetup discussion to judge interest. I'll have snacks and soda on hand. Additional snacks or soda welcome. We usually order out for dinner and then continue on till 10pm. The games we usually play tend towards those requiring more thinking than typical family or party games and they are usually in the 2-4 hour range. Photos from past meet ups can give you a sense of them. We do sometimes play lighter games though.

**UPDATE:** The Board Room has closed permanently 😔. Therefore, we will be trying a new venue: Quincy Hall (https://www.quincyhallbar.com/) It's the first Thursday of the month, and that means we will be replaying a game we played recently: **The Voyages of Marco Polo.** Play as Marco Polo or one of several other historical figures, each with unique abilities, as you journey from Venice to Beijing. The game is played over five rounds. Each round, roll your dice and use them to take actions: gather money and resources, acquire contracts, travel across the map, and build trading posts in cities. Earn victory points by fulfilling contracts, reaching Beijing, building trading posts, and more. After five rounds, the player with the most points wins! We have two copies of the game, one with a 5-player expansion, so RSVPs have been set at 9. Let us know in the comments if you can bring a copy, and we will increase the RSVP limit.
