Guided Walk in the steps of the French in Soho
Londonâs Soho area is now famous for its nightlife, but in the 19th century was known as the âFrench Quarterâ, since large numbers of Huguenots settled there to escape persecution in France.
We will meet on Soho Square in front of the French Protestant Church.
Then we will walk and allude to certain French places as French House, a Huguenot Chapel, various historical shops and we'll be ending in the West End with Notre Dame de France (where there are works of art and especially murals by Jean Cocteau). Be aware that we won't go inside the buildings.
This stroll is a refreshing opportunity to find out more about the French presence in London and to speak French in an relaxed way. We will chat at our own discretion and related to what we will see...
The walk is a guided tour lead in French only, and we will chat as well.
We will walk for about two hours with some stops.
Here an overview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Fc6SLHGG-c
Be aware that the whole event will occur in French and a charge of ÂŁ18 + Meet Up fees are due payable at the booking (payment through Paypal).
Refund policy: up to 1 day before the event starts.

This epic night will be fully hosted by me untill the fat lady sings - a friendly funny radio/club DJ, singer, dancer, Musicologist with a natural innate flair to get musical vibes flowing through your every chord...
**Expect to hear or sing classic anthemic rock & Indie songs** from Bon Jovi, Rage Against The Machine, Queen, Nirvana, Kings of Leon, Oasis, Bryan Adams, Guns Nâ Roses, ACDC and other musical legends
**=== High Octane** **Melody Fueled** **Night Out ===**
This will be a highly fun entertaining night out with high octane feelings
blanketed with an electrifying atmosphere charged with raw musical energy, soul and emotion. Whether you like to get in front of a mic at Karaoke or you're a secret car perfomer - expect symphonies to unfold in harmony with a vibrant crowd of young music lovers as the band transforms you from boring city of London exe by day into a **rock star** for the night. And if you have a natural sense of rhythm it would be selfish not to show off your charismatic stage presence by droppin some **funky dance moves** as no rock star performance is complete without!
Of course, you don't need to get up and perform - if you **love music** but don't want to sing, you are welcome to socialise, cheer, singalong and dance with the rest of us. Slots to build melody fueled new connections are strictly limited. So in order to give genuine music fans a fair chance to attend - as per attendance rules **\- anyone who has not answered the screening question properly or does not demonstrate passion for music as indicated by interests listed in their profiles \- will be moved to not going to create space for like\-minded genuine people**
**=== If You're Singing ===**
You don't need vocals like Zara Larsson or Amy Winehouse - most of us are not professional singers - we do this for pure fun indulgence, entertaininment and love of music but if you've never sung live with a band on stage before - ideally choose a song that you know the lyrics / musical timing too well. We'll have **two** **experienced guitarists** (base and electric)**,** a **drummer** who also do **backing vocals** to help out if you get lost.
**=== Venue & Itinerary ===**
We are back at our Camden venue with the band offering excellent choice of songs. Early on we will meet around the bar area and once the first song hits most of us will move closer to the front stage to dance and singalong to the tracks so come on time for early intros - when the band starts it gets pretty loud. I will share my number on the eve and update in the comments section on whereabouts.
**=== MUSIC ONLY EVENTS ===**
For music fans who love music and want to hear about mostly free musicârelated events in London, we do have an exclusive WhatsApp group you can join subject to minimal vetting. If you have attended an event before or at least met the organiser in person send me a request and I will add you / send you link to join:! Iâll share all my music events here in advance first so people can RSVP earlier and avoid waiting lists. People can also share last min nonâmeetup MUSIC events too.

Learn to Meditate - Fridays in Mayfair @ 5.45pm - Free Sahaja Yoga Class
Learn to Meditate - Fridays in Mayfair @ 5.45pm - 6.45pm Join our Free Sahaja Yoga Class
Venue: Mayfair Library 25 South Audley St, London, W1K 2PB
Achieve Yoga & enter into a state of âthoughtless awarenessâ.
In the heart of London @ Mayfair Library, there is a weekly class in free meditation.
**Achieve Yoga & Learn to Meditate in 2026 - 5:45- 6:45pm Fridays**
The first experience of Sahaja Yoga meditation is called Self Realisation. With Sahaja Yoga Meditation we generally sit on chairs to achieve Yoga, effortlessly & spontaneously. As such no Asanas (exercises) are required, no mat or special clothing
## What is Meditation?
Meditation is a state of mental silence or rest, where our attention is aware, but not engrossed in thinking. It is known as âthoughtless awarenessâ. It is achieved when the indwelling Kundalini energy awakens and carries the individual attention beyond the level of the 6th chakra, into the seventh chakra, known as Sahasrara.
## Yoga!
It is here we achieve Yoga! As the mind finds rest and silence, we become able to feel our inner Self (Spirit). This can be tangibly felt, it actually manifests, as a cool wind, breath or breeze, often experienced on the palms of the hands or at the top (crown) of the head. It is a spontaneous, effortless natural happening.
Each week many people experience this actualisation at one of the many free meditation classes on offer
## How to get into balance?
The secret of the Sahaja Yoga method resides within us, at the base of the spinal chord, in a triangular bone called the âsacrum boneâ. Since our birth in our sacrum bone dwells an inner energy called in Sanskrit Kundalini; it is characterised as a feminine energy and once activated, this energy rises along our spine until it reaches the top of the head and finally connects with the universal energy. This union is called âyogaâ in Sanskrit.
## Kundalini
As our indwelling Kundalini rises through the central channel, this benevolent feminine energy activates the chakras, removing all the impurities from them and nourishing the entire inner system. It is through this happening that we are elevated into âthoughtless awarenessâ, the mental silence of true meditation

Hever Castle Away Day: St Peter's Church + 'Capturing a Queen' exhibition
**Join us for a LoMAZ Away Day to Hever, Kent to visit St Peter's Church, followed by Hever Castle and grounds, including the 'Capturing a Queen: The Image of Anne Boleyn' exhibition.**
**âŞď¸ St Peter's Church:**
At the entrance to Hever Castle is the parish church of St Peter's where the Boleyn family worshipped, and where Anne Boleyn's father Thomas Boleyn and her baby brother Henry Boleyn are buried. Before we explore the castle **Jonny will take the group on a guided tour around the church** to explain more about the building and the burials within.
**đ° Hever Castle & grounds:**
Dating back to the 1300s, Hever Castle was the childhood home of [Anne Boleyn](https://www.hevercastle.co.uk/news/anne-boleyn-and-hever-castle/), second wife of Henry VIII and Mother of Elizabeth I. It formed the backdrop to tumultuous events that changed the course of Britainâs history, monarchy and religion.
Its panelled rooms house fine furniture, tapestries, antiques and âone of the best collections of Tudor portraits after the National Portrait Galleryâ; Also, two prayer books which belonged to [Anne Boleyn](https://www.hevercastle.co.uk/news/anne-boleyn-and-hever-castle/) and bear her inscriptions and signature.
[William Waldorf Astor](https://www.hevercastle.co.uk/visit/hever-castle/owners/astor/) restored the Castle in the early 20th century. The Astor Suite showcases pictures and memorabilia relating to the Astor family and the Edwardian period. The permanent exhibition in the Long Gallery depicts the saga from the Wars of the Roses to the Reformation through its art collection.

**đźď¸ The 'Capturing a Queen' exhibition @ Hever Castle** brings together the largest ever gathering of portraits believed to depict [Anne Boleyn](https://www.hevercastle.co.uk/visit/hever-castle/timelines/anne-boleyn-timeline/), including a ground-breaking newly identified contemporary image unveiled for the first time.
Developed from new research, the exhibition traces how Anneâs image has changed over 500 years and reveals new scientific findings about Heverâs famous âHever Roseâ portrait. You can examine the evidence and vote for the likeness you believe best represents Henry VIIIâs most enigmatic queen.

We will meet beforehand in nearby St Mary's Secret Garden (check comments on the day for exact location within the park) for a picnic and to soak up the midsummer rays, so bring whatever food and drink you like (plus sunscreen!) and we'll mosey over to the museum for the event at 5pm!
(This is a free event, so we ask that you please keep RSVPs updated to ensure that as many people as possible who want to come are able to. Cancellations with less than three daysâ notice may be removed from the group to prevent wasted spaces in future. Many thanks for your understanding!)
Indiemeet's Monthly Meetup
Help support the group with a tip: [https://ko-fi.com/indierpg](https://ko-fi.com/indierpg)!
This is Indiemeet's monthly meetup. Come along for 13:30 and meet folk.
At 14:00 we start pitching games. Everyone who's brought a game to run gives a short pitch: they say what it's like, how many players it can take and whether it has a GM or not. Then we allocate people to games and play them.
We love people who pitch games, so please do come with something you'd like to run. If you'd like to pitch a game, you'll need to include: number of players, type of game (GMed or GM-less), and a brief blurb of the game.
If it's your first time at Indiemeet, we'll ask what you want to play and try to make sure it runs!
We believe that gaming is for all: Indiemeet believes in providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. We believe that gaming is for everyone, regardless of who you are or your level of experience. NOTE: Weâre switching it up this time and going with a DINNER shift on Mon, 7/6. Here are complete details and our plan for this event:
FAITH MISSION â GRANT KITCHEN: The Faith Mission kitchen and dining room serves residents 3 meals a day, every day of the year. For this event, our group will help prepare food, serve meals, assist residents in the dining room, wash dishes, and clean surfaces.
PLAN: We will be preparing / serving / cleaning for DINNER from 4:30 to 6:30pm and have space for a total of 7 volunteers. Please arrive at 4:20pm and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants.

On-site parking in the adjacent lot and street parking are available in the surrounding area. Below are some links / attachments with additional info/details:
IMPORTANT REMINDER: Our group will be providing all of the volunteers on this day so a firm RSVP count is essential. Please only sign up if you are certain youâll be able to attend. If something unavoidable comes up, please try to update your RSVP no later than one week prior to the event. With few exceptions, no shows or cancelations within 1 week of the event will not be eligible for future CMG Gives Back events. I appreciate your understanding as we try to ensure the agencies have the volunteers needed to provide the essential services they provide to the vulnerable population they serve. Our Partner Agency for this event is Lutheran Social Services! A huge THANK YOU to those volunteering at this (or any of our previous or future) CMG Gives Back events!
Look forward to seeing you there, Dan
