They write code that is statistically likely to be correct. But "statistically likely" and "correct" are not the same thing. As we move toward autonomous multi-agent systems writing production code at machine speed, that gap becomes the central engineering problem of our time. ​Code is not text. It is a formal, deterministic, mathematical structure that happens to be serialised as text. Every tool in the agentic coding stack — retrieval, editing, version control, coordination — treats it as text. ​This talk argues that the answer isn't better frontier models. It's better systems around models. Language models have finite working memory, and every API response your services return goes into it. No matter how great your painting is there are few occasions where it is not improved by a beautiful frame. High street framers will usually glue something together for you from off the shelf mouldings, good enough perhaps, but rarely outstanding. You may have seen that successful artists like [David Sawyer](https://www.instagram.com/djsawyerrba/) often use gessoed frames, which are painted up to suit the specific image. As artists we have skills in abundance and time can be made available if we choose, so making our own frames is a no brainer. David Sawyer, along with being one of Britain’s leading landscape painters, often frames his own work. As you would expect his frames are sensitive and beautiful. He is running a framing workshop which will get you going with the basics of producing hand made picture frames. **What will you be learning?** * Typical types of mouldings, what types of wood and profiles are available * The use of slips, liners and fillets * How to decide on your moulding * Measuring the artwork * Setting up and calibration of the Morso (guillotine) * Cutting the moulding * Getting to know the types of glues available * Setting up the underpinner and joining * Clamping and reinforcing the frame We will provide one small frame to be gessoed and gilded, and each participant will also create a new frame of a bespoke size. Working with professional framing equipment, you’ll choose, measure, and cut your mouldings, then join and glue your frame to your own specifications. If you have any works on paper you’d like to frame instead, please drop us an email so we can bring the necessary equipment. Expect to pay a little more for materials, £15-£27 for an average frame. You don’t need to bring anything to this workshop other than a picture you’d like to frame and a notebook. With 25+ years across academia, public sector and pharma (including UCB and the Luxembourg Institute of Health), his work focuses on what actually works in AI for bioinformatics: moving from proof-of-concept to robust, governed systems that clinicians and patients can trust. This is a studio based long pose life drawing and painting session. We have a nude model for two hours in a single pose to give you time to complete a finished drawing or to paint the figure. You are welcome to draw or paint in oils or wet media. Our studio is purpose built and well equipped with easels, drawing boards, clips and so on. We sell materials at reasonable prices so if you forget anything we should be able to help you out. We have professional lighting for the models and full spectrum lights for the studio to give you a good experience.
