It's a Brazilian samba group that celebrates music, cultural heritage, community, sociability, and diversity in the UK. The event takes place once a month, on Sundays, at Maxilla Social Club close the tube station Latimer Road. The event is open to everyone from all over nacionalities interested in Brazilian culture. Singles, couples, friends, families with children and elderly people. Our vibrant Brazilian community gathers to play, sing, dance samba and to eat Brazilian food. Ornella Simonetto is a rising Argentine tango dancer, teacher, and DJ, born and raised in Buenos Aires. Deeply influenced by the city’s rich tango culture, she began dancing at a young age and developed her style within the traditional milonga scene, combining strong musicality with expressive movement. She is widely regarded as one of the most promising figures of the new generation of tango artists. Her career gained international recognition through her consistent success at the Tango World Championship, where she was a finalist from 2021 to 2024 and achieved 3rd place in Tango de Salón in 2024. Beyond performance, Ornella is an active and sought-after teacher, known for emphasising musicality, connection, and authentic expression in her classes. She regularly teaches workshops at international festivals and travels extensively across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Her versatility—combining performance, teaching, and DJing—makes her a distinctive and influential figure in contemporary tango, representing a new generation that bridges tradition and modern interpretation. Maika studied at Karen Taft Dance Academy and Flamenco Centre “Amor de Dios”, majoring in Spanish Dance at Conservatory of Dance in Madrid. In 2003, she was awarded a certificate in Teaching Methodology Applied to Spanish Dance and then focused her career on dance education. Maika has continued her professional training alongside teachers including Antonio Canales, Alfonso Losa, La Lupi, Rojas and Rodriguez. Maika co-founded the company Spanish Flamenco Tour, based in Miami (USA), a business dedicated to promoting flamenco and Spanish culture, to a local audience. Adding more strings to her bow, Maika embarked on a Master´s Degree in Leadership and Management of Cultural Projects at Institute of Dance “Alicia Alonso”, Rey Juan Carlos University. Her final master’s project was based on the promotion of Spanish dance, receiving a First-Class Degree. Maika’s classes are designed to extract every student’s natural ability to dance and show them how wonderful and fun, this art form is.
