🥞🎉 13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER! 🎉🥞
🥞🎉 13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER! 🎉🥞
🥞🎉 **13th ANNUAL PANCAKE TUESDAY DINNER!** 🎉🥞 **A Social + Friends-Making Night (and a Very Good Excuse to Eat Pancakes)** Why stay home when you can come out for **PANCAKES on Pancake Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday)**? 🥞✨ This delicious tradition happens the night before Lent — a time when, historically, people used up all the *butter, sugar, and sweet things* before giving something up for 40 days. (You do **not** have to be Catholic — it’s just a fun tradition I grew up with… and honestly, pancakes are reason enough.) It’s a weeknight, it’s cozy, it’s social, and it’s the perfect excuse to gather, laugh, and make new friends over a plate of fluffy goodness. 🧈🍯 👉 **Please note:** You don’t *have* to order pancakes… …but it’s **highly encouraged** 😉🥞 👉 **Don’t forget to join our WhatsApp group** – [CLICK HERE!](https://chat.whatsapp.com/H59mSCbsAi018gYANrKAnc?mode=ac_t) \*\*\* 🍽️ The Restaurant: **Kos Restaurant – Kensington Market** Kos is one of the **oldest and most beloved restaurants in Kensington Market** and one of Toronto’s top brunch spots. Weekend wait times can reach **an hour or more**, which tells you everything you need to know. They’re famous for: 🥞 Golden, fluffy pancakes 🍳 All-day breakfast 🌟 Fresh, made-to-order comfort food **Menu:** [Click Here!](https://www.kosrestaurant.ca/menu) ⚠️ **PLEASE NOTE:** This is a small diner, and we may be seated at **multiple tables** — but we’ll still be eating pancakes together in spirit. 🥞💛 \*\*\* 🧢 How to Find Me I’ll be outside the restaurant wearing my **Moose Hat** 🫎🎩 ❗ **PLEASE DO NOT GO INSIDE WITHOUT ME** — I’ll only wait **5 minutes** outside. 🚫 **Please don’t call the restaurant** — they won’t have any information about the event. 💬 Message **Mathew** directly with any questions. \*\*\* 💰 Costs 🍽️ **Cost of your meal:** $ (pay directly to the restaurant) 🎟️ **Meetup Fee:** $5 cash in person **or** e-transfer to 📧 \*\*[mathewmaclean@hotmail.com**](http://mathewmaclean@hotmail.com%2A%2A/) This fee helps support the group and allows us to keep hosting events like this. Thank you for supporting community! 💖 \*\*\* ⏰ A Gentle Reminder This is a **Tuesday night**. If you’re not sure you’ll be able to leave work on time, please wait to sign up until you know you can make it. Members who no-show or change their RSVP on the day may be held accountable per group rules — we want to be fair to everyone and to the restaurant. \*\*\* \#\#\# 🌈 Who Is This For? This group is open to **everyone** who wants to be social, make friends, and enjoy great experiences — whether you’re single or not. We host: 🎬 Movies 🚶 Walks & hikes 🎭 Arts & culture 🍽️ Restaurant outings …and lots of cozy, community-focused events like this one. \*\*\* ⚠️ **NOTE:** Sometimes things happen and events may need to be cancelled — please keep an eye out for updates. 👤 **Organizer:** Mathew Questions? Post on the event wall or email 📧 \*\*[torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com**](http://torontomoviesandoutings@hotmail.com%2A%2A/) 🥞✨ Come for the pancakes. Stay for the laughs. Leave with new friends. Honestly… what better way to spend a Tuesday night? 🥰

[In-person] Curiosity Café: Unrequited Love
[In-person] Curiosity Café: Unrequited Love
They say you never forget your first love. But there’s something about love that isn’t returned that's pretty hard to forget too. To help ease any post-Valentine’s Day blues, we’re going to spend our next Curiosity Café discussing **unrequited love.** We’ll begin by examining our experiences of unrequited love, to get to the bottom of what exactly we’re talking about. How is it different from, say, love that *is* requited? Or from infatuation? Is a one-sided friendship an instance of unrequited love? Is there a relevant difference between love that is not requited at all, and love that is not requited in *kind*? What can unrequited love tell us about the nature of love in general? Then, we’ll turn to thinking about how we should respond to unrequited love, either in ourselves, or in others. What value, if any, does unrequited love have? When love is unrequited, should we try to move on? Should we try to persuade our beloved to love us back? What should we do if we’re on the receiving end of unrequited love, or if we’re witness to a friend in this kind of situation? Join co-moderators Alexandra Gustafson and Sophia Whicher to dissect these questions and more on February 17th. **Space is limited!** **Please obtain a “Pay-What-You-Can” ticket from Curiosity Café at [this link (click here)](https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/curiosity-cafe-unrequited-love-tickets-1982624787109) to attend this event. You need a ticket to be admitted.** See the above link for more info about tickets and other options including a limited number of free tickets. Come and hang out with us, grab food, and read through our handout from 6-6:30pm. Our structured discussion will run from 6:30-8:30pm with a 10 minute break in the middle. Hope to see you there! ***___________________________________________________________________*** This event is brought to you by [Being and Becoming](https://beingnbecoming.org/), a Toronto based non-profit. We aim to create community around exploring everyday concepts and experiences so that we may live more intentional, thoughtful, and meaningful lives. We use philosophy as a tool with which we can come to a richer understanding of the world around us. By offering activities, spaces, and other opportunities for conversation and co-exploration, we hope to enable the meeting and fusion of individuals and their ideas. Everyone is welcome, regardless of background: indeed, we believe the journey is best undertaken alongside explorers from a variety of disciplines, cultures, backgrounds, and experiences. Find out more about Being and Becoming [here](https://beingnbecoming.org/). About the Curiosity Café Series: For those of you who haven’t had the opportunity to join us at our Curiosity Cafés and are wondering what they’re all about: every two weeks, we invite members of our community to come out to the Madison Avenue Pub to engage in a collaborative exploration of our chosen topic. Through these events, we aim to build our community of people who like to think deeply about life’s big questions, and provide each other with some philosophical tools to dig deeper into whatever it is we are most curious about.

SPOT LEFT FOR A MAN ****Fun Speed Dating 40-55 & Mingling
Speed Dating & Mingling with Singles Come and have fun with us. We at Crazy 4 Events know how to have fun. Positive vibes are what we aim for. Come with an open mind. You might meet the right one and even if you don’t. Have fun! A few years up or down is no problem. We will not check your ID. Please bring a non-perishable food item. We will bring it to the FOODBANK. We love giving back to the community! Please arrive early to the event. We are suggesting that you arrive 15 minutes before the event starts. **If you arrive late, unfortunately, you cannot attend the event.** Give yourself ample time to arrive just in case there is traffic. Your date will be approximately 5-12 minutes depending on the number of dates that you will have. There is a cut-off for the number of women/men that attend. However, we can add you to the next speed dating event. PLEASE NOTE: If we have too many of one sex, we will either refund you or put you at the top of the list for the next event! We encourage you to mingle with others before the event. We always make it fun; we will do some icebreakers before doing our speed dating. Only individuals with a paid ticket will be allowed into the event. *What is included with your ticket:* Once you finish speed dating, join us to mingle with like-minded people. Appetizers will be served. You will have FIVE dates and a maximum of EIGHT. You will be given a score sheet at the beginning of the evening that will be handed to the Hostess at the end of the speed date event. Within 24 hours, we will contact you to inform you of any mutual interest(s). **A few of the rules:** Turn off your phone. Be respectful to others. **Cancellation Policy:** All reservations are processed when the booking is made - reservations are final and non- refundable. A reminder email may be sent to clients; however, we are not responsible if you do not receive it. It is your responsibility to know the date and time of the event. We regret that there are no refunds for events and workshops. But you can send someone to attend in your place. If it is speed dating, the person you are sending must be the same gender as you. There are NO exceptions due to weather, sickness, traffic etc. Please think of our events the same way as a concert. You would not get your money back if you did not show up at a concert. Crazy 4 Events has the right to cancel due to low enrollment and unforeseen circumstances. Should this happen, you will be entitled to a refund or a credit for another event. **Disclaimer:** Crazy 4 Events Speed Dating and Mingling with Singles does not perform background checks on or screen any individuals participating in our events. Don't set up dates too quickly** It's normal to chat and have some back and forth before deciding if a date is in the cards. If the person wants to meet you immediately that is a RED FLAG. **2\. Meet up in a public place for the first time** It's a wise decision to choose a busy public location for your first date. Meet at a pub, coffee shop, restaurant, and/or busy park. This allows a secure setting for both of you. **3\. Always arrange your transportation for the initial date** Always meet your date in a public place. Never, ever let them pick you up or drop you off on your first few dates. Even if they offer to pick you up or drop you off, say "no thanks" until you trust them! Remember the old saying stranger DANGER. **4\. Tell someone you trust that you have a date** Never go on a date/meet-up without telling someone. This should always be your no. 1 safety rule when meeting people for the first time. Let a friend or family member know that they should expect to hear from you at a certain time. You can also let them know where you're going on the date. It’s also a smart idea to have a ‘safe word’ or ‘safe phrase’, to use, just in case you need to make a quick exit. **5\. Think before exchanging numbers** Do not forget that you are under no need to share phone numbers if you feel uncomfortable. It’s OK to schedule dates and converse only through a safe app until you feel ready to give out your phone number. Always take your time when disclosing contact information since your privacy is crucial. **6\. ALWAYS Trust your instincts** If you sense any discomfort or uneasy vibes while conversing, or planning a date in person, don't hesitate to leave immediately and exit the situation. Your well-being always comes first, and it's perfectly fine to step away if something doesn't feel right. Let your friend or family member know.
