Men Singing the Anthem at a Nats Game June 14
Men Singing the Anthem at a Nats Game June 14
You're walking onto the field at a Washington Nationals game on June 14th to sing the Star-Spangled Banner with about 50 other guys. Interested? We rehearse every Monday night in DC. Doesn't matter if you've sung your whole life or haven't sung since high school. Doesn't matter if you've been told you're tone deaf. Show up Monday and surprise yourself. Here's what to expect when you walk in: * A warm welcome and a name tag. You'll know somebody within five minutes. * Free voice coaching from me. Breath, tone, range, the stuff that makes you sound better fast. * We'll teach you the anthem in four-part harmony. You'll be standing next to a guy who's been doing this for years. He's got you. * We sing other songs too. The chorus has a full repertoire and you're welcome to stay for all of it. What to bring: * Yourself * A water bottle * An open mind and a sense of humor That's it. No music to buy, no audition to pass, no commitment beyond showing up. Location: St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 4900 Connecticut Ave NW, Washington DC. Free parking. Walk-in friendly. Questions? Send a message through Meetup. If you've been waiting for a sign to do something different with your Monday nights, this is it. See you there.

Come Play Age of Industry
Come Play Age of Industry
It's the first Thursday of the month, and that means we will be replaying a game we played recently: **Age of Industry.** However, we only have one copy of Age of Industry, and so as an overflow game, we'll also bring multiple copies of Brass: Birmingham to play. Age of Industry description from BGG: Martin Wallace's streamlined redesign of [Brass: Lancashire](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/28720/brass-lancashire). Players are tycoons in the early days of the Industrial Revolution; a time when traditional craftsman were being rapidly replaced with steam-powered machines. Players invest in the production of raw materials, the manufacture of goods, and the transportation networks needed to connect them to their markets. Like Brass, the strategic space is vast, and player decisions are limited by cards. In Age of Industry, however, cards are color-coded to regions rather than specific cities, allowing the players to be more flexible with their plans, while at the same time continuing to limit the decisions available. The color-coded region cards will also support expansion maps. In addition, the original Brass rules were simplified by eliminating the canal period; there is only one period, the railway era. There is also a new, non-specific industry, which will change with each map. According to Wallace, "You can now play something with the depth of Brass, but in half the time. The game will have a double-sided map, with Germany on one side and southern New England on the other."
Games Day!
Games Day!
Everyone is encouraged to get vaccinated, but not required. I just got mine. I don't want to get any of my friends sick! I will, however, be screening for a standard set of COVID symptoms. If you are showing any symptoms that could make people nervous, please postpone coming to the meetup till you're over it. While sneezing is not a COVID symptom, I think folks would rather not risk getting even a cold right now, so again please don't show up if this is the case, even if you're sure it is just an allergy. On the other hand, no masks are required, although feel free if it'd make you more comfortable. General day of games! Whatever folks feel like playing. Bring your own or learn a new one! If you want to play a longer game, you might want to propose it on the meetup discussion to judge interest. I'll have snacks and soda on hand. Additional snacks or soda welcome. We usually order out for dinner and then continue on till 10pm. The games we usually play tend towards those requiring more thinking than typical family or party games and they are usually in the 2-4 hour range. Photos from past meet ups can give you a sense of them. We do sometimes play lighter games though.

Young Professionals Social Club: Nationals Home Game Socials (20s & 30s) Are you in your 20s or 30s looking to expand your social circle, grab a drink, and catch some live baseball without breaking the bank? This is the group for you! We are a vibrant community of local young professionals who meet up for every single Nats home game. Whether you are a die-hard baseball fan or just in it for the social scene, you’ll fit right in. If the Nats are playing at home, we are there! What We Are About Our events focus on high-energy, low-stress environments. We love utilizing standing room only tickets and affordable season passes to keep things budget-friendly, but regular ticket holders are always welcome! Standing room areas (like the outfield bars and concourse decks) give us the freedom to move around, mingle, and actually talk to each other—no being stuck in a single stadium seat all night. Every Home Game: No guessing when the next meetup is. If there is a game at the stadium, we are gathering. Socialize: Meet new friends, network with fellow local professionals, and find your crowd. Eat & Drink: We always kick things off with pre-game drinks or hang out at the stadium's best social spaces. Zero Pressure: You don’t need to be a baseball expert. Come for the game, stay for the conversations. Who Should Join? If you are in your 20s or 30s, live in the area, and want a fun, consistent way to get out after work or on the weekends, hit that "Join" button. Check the schedule, grab your tickets, and we'll see you at the ballpark!
