đ On your phone and canât click? Click the link in the comments :)
2026 here we go! Off to another year of showing ourselves and connecting more deeply đ€
**đŠ WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?**
FTST is an out-of-the-box **social experience** where strangers come together for an afternoon of meaningful, fun, and deep conversation. Itâs also a different & cool way of meeting new people by getting a bit out of your comfort zone and skipping the small talk!
Join us for **games**, **talks**, and **connections** with **friends you havenât met yet**. Join if you get annoyed after being asked what you do, where you are from, and how long you've been in Brussels every single time you meet someone. If you feel that there are better questions in life, this is the place for you. đ
**đ HOW DOES IT WORK?**
We start with a short & sweet intro talk followed by a few light-hearted group games to warm up. After that, we split you up into small groups and start with the conversation rounds (with 3-4 people). We'll have awesome question cards that will guide the flow of the conversation. You'll be guided by an experienced host who'll make sure everything goes smoothly. đ
**đč HOW TO JOIN?**
**[Take 1 minute to sign up đ](https://luma.com/ftst3brussels)**
đ On your phone and canât click? Click the link in the comments :)
Our events are **limited to 30 handpicked guests** to ensure a cozy atmosphere. **Confirm your spot on the link above** to make it happen! We prioritize a balance of gender and age. If you're invited you'll receive a confirmation within 48 hours via Luma (our ticketing platform)
NOTE: We won't validate your payment unless you've been accepted! (which you most likely will â€ïž)
**Sold out or can't make it?** [Drop us your email ](https://epicllama.myflodesk.com/brussels)and we'll keep you in the loop for the next one! đ
**𧧠HOW MUCH IS IT?**
The cost to attend is âŹ15 (early bird) or âŹ18 (general), and includes the following:
â° 3 hours of facilitated and curated activities
đđœ Access to the Llamas in Brussels WhatsApp community
đ„ A space to meet new people in the least boring way possible
đ Supporting our mission to spread human connection events around the world
*(đ« also includes those annoying ticket fees!)*
**đł WHERE IS IT?**
We host our events in awesome bars & parks across the city. *We only **reveal the location** upon confirmation.*
**đ WHAT THEY SAY**
đŁ âThis is the kind of activity **humanity needs every weekend**. Thank you for all.â - *Sonya*
đŁ âF\*ck the Small Talk changes the narrative from "Where are you from?" to "When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably?" and I think that's beautiful.â - Monika
đŁ "Itâs a **wonderful** **experience**, itâs like being a kid again, when you were at the park, playing with other kids, and just decided you were going to be best friends for the next hours. Maybe youâll never see those kids again. But that hour was amazing because you both opened up and trusted each other." - Sara
**[Read our 130+ Google reviews here đ](https://goo.gl/maps/TpZy77bfPFkGoikn7)**
**đ€ FAQ**
**âą Can I come alone?**
Of course, we encourage it :)
**âą Can I be late?**
Please don't! Late arrivals will disrupt the floooooooow.
**âą I signed up but never got an invite. Why?**
We usually get a high volume of sign-ups yet we like to keep it cozy & only invite around 30 people. Please try again next time if you do not receive an invite - no hard feelings đ
**âą Why do you charge?**
We value our time and put a lot of love, planning, and effort into creating & designing these experiences. â„ïž This is our project/business and what we give to the world and we think everything should be a fair exchange! đ However, money should never be the reason for people not to attend. If you canât afford it send us a message!
**âą Is this a networking or dating event?**
Nope! Think of us as the *anti-networking* and *anti-speed dating* event. Thereâs no pressure, no pitches, and no cringy icebreakers. Instead, we create spaces where strangers can connect through fun & meaningful conversations. Itâs all about authentic connectionâno business cards or romantic expectations required. (doesnât mean it *canât* happenâitâs just not the intention!)

đ
ââïžđ±This event is a no-phone experience. đ
ââïžđ±
We started in Berlin back in 2019 out of the frustration of being asked 'Where are you from?' multiple times at every single meetup! Now there are chapters in 15 cities including Medellin, Lisbon, Buenos Aires, Zurich, and London! đșïž

Data Mesh Belgium - meetup #7 @ Leuven
**Join us for the 7th Data Mesh Belgium Meetup on April 21st, 2026!**
This time [AE](https://www.ae.be/) will host this event in their office in Leuven. This evening promises to be a deep dive into cutting-edge topics around Data Mesh.
Also join us at [Data Mesh Live ](https://datameshlive.com/)on June 11-12, a two day conference providing insights into the challenges and solutions for your Data Mesh journey.
**SCHEDULE**
* **18h 00 - 18h 40:** Food & Drinks
* **18h 40 - 18h 45:** Welcome by Tom De Wolf
* **18h 45 - 19h 30:** Open Standards for Data Mesh by Simon Harrer
* **19h 30 - 19h 45:** Short break
* **19h 45 - 20h 30:** You Donât Need a Data Mesh to Start with Data Products by Jef Van Hulle
* **20h 30 - 21h 00:** Networking
**TALK ABSTRACTS**
âș **"Open Standards for Data Mesh"** by Simon Harrer
Open Standards are gaining ground in data mesh, helping prevent vendor lock-in and drive innovation. We explore the key standards for data contracts, data products, observability, semantics, and more, looking at where they come from, where they are heading, and how they compare.
You will leave with a clear view of which standards matter now and which to watch in the future.
âș **"You Donât Need a Data Mesh to Start with Data Products"** by Jef Van Hulle
Many Data Mesh journeys start with large-scale transformations. In reality, that âbig bangâ approach often becomes a blocker.
Jef shares a pragmatic alternative: introducing data products incrementally within existing teams, systems, and governance. By applying product thinking â clear ownership, shared definitions, and lifecycle management â early value was delivered while gradually shifting how data is managed.
Instead of starting with a full Data Mesh transformation, this approach shows how data products can be a realistic first step toward it.
**SPEAKER BIOS**
âș **[Simon Harrer](https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonharrer/)** \- Co\-Founder and CEO of Entropy Data
He is a software developer at heart who has since turned to the dark side â the world of data. He co-founded datamesh-architecture.com and translated Zhamak Dehghani's Data Mesh book into German. Currently, he is developing a SaaS product useful for all Data Mesh initiatives: the Data Mesh Manager.
âș **[Jef Van Hulle](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jefvanhulle/)** \- Senior Data Analyst at AE
Jef has 6 years of experience at AE, working as both a business analyst and data analyst. Building on his background in software product development as a business analyst, he applies product thinking from the software world to the data domain. In his current role as a data analyst at a large utility company, he leads the adoption of data products and applies data product thinking in practice.
Afterwork Session : Lorenzo il Magnifico
Let's play Lorenzo il Magnifico, a very good eurogame, with a tight ressource management.
"*Lorenzo il Magnifico is a complex and strategic game with no luck dependence. Players will place their Family Members in different areas of the city to perform actions, but these Family Members are never the same as they change value every round. They will conquer new territories, sponsor magnificent buildings, encourage brave ventures and surround themselves with important characters. If they are smart and powerful enough, they can attract some of the most renowned contemporary celebrities and use their powers.*"
[BGG Link](https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/203993/lorenzo-il-magnifico)
I will also have the expansions "House of the Renaissance" and the "Pazzi Conspiracy" which don't bring many extra rules, but introduce more variability in the game.

From friction to flow: How Isabel Group accelerated what couldn't be automated.
**At [Isabel Group](https://www.isabel.eu/en), the conviction was clear: certain processes could be accelerated with the help of AI. What they needed was support on two fronts, identifying which processes had the most potential, and a partner to help implement the solutions.**
Through a Start AI trajectory with **[Ixor](www.ixor.be)**, they zeroed in on supporting services, procurement, HR, and customer service, deliberately leaving IT Ops & Dev out of scope.
The process started with conversations: talking to everyone involved, understanding what they actually spent their time on, and mapping where the friction was. From there, thanks to the structured approach of the Start AI trajectory, each process was scored on feasibility and impact.
Three clear priorities emerged.
**[Roel Liers](https://www.linkedin.com/in/roel-l-b594631/)** (Head of Digitalisation at Isabel Group) and **[Martijn Leplae](https://www.linkedin.com/in/martijn-leplae-2258341a5/)** (AI engineer at Ixor) share how that journey went:
* **Finding the right processes.** Scoring workflows across supporting services on feasibility and impact, surfacing the overlooked ones, not just the obvious candidates.
* **Making processes AI-ready.** Restructuring and rethinking workflows before building anything, because the quality of the automation depends on the quality of the process underneath.

Fast Friending: Real Connections! (21-40/Bring a Lady FREE)
Has it been just you and your phone lately? Itâs easy to feel connected yet still feel alone. Digital interactions canât replace the warmth of eye contact, real laughter, and meaningful conversations. True connection happens when we step away from our screens and show up as ourselves â present, open, and engaged.
At Fast Friending, we create spaces where real relationships begin. - just genuine conversations and shared moments. Because nothing compares to meeting face-to-face, discovering common ground, and walking away with a connection that truly feels real.
**You will need to buy a ticket for attending -**
[https://brussels25thapril.eventbrite.co.uk](https://brussels25thapril.eventbrite.co.uk)
\*You can use any debit or credit card to purchase your ticket at PayPal checkout. It will ask you for your email address but that is only to send you a receipt. You do not need a PayPal account.
TICKETS:-
Early Bird - âŹ5 per person
Regular Ticket - âŹ10 per person
Cash at Meetup - If you do not purchase tickets in advance then you can pay âŹ15 cash to your host Katrin when you meet her at the event.
\- We will meet at 7\.00 pm when you will be welcomed by your host Katrin She will manage the evening and also help you make connections\.
If you are a bit shy or anxious then please come early. Tanya will help you meet other members in a small group and help you settle down and get comfortable. All attendees are also welcome to bring a lady friend along with them for free. This will make it a lot less stressful for you as you will always have your friend alongside.
\- From 7\.30 to 8\.30 pm\, we will start 'Fast Friending' where our host will ask you to speak to a different attendee every 3 minutes\. You will be able to meet lots of ladies and gentlemen and not be limited to only those sitting or standing next you\.
\- After 8\.30 pm you will have time to interact with those you have met as well as others\.
\- We are not a close knit tight group\. Our evenings are warm and comfortable for members attending for the first time and those coming alone\. You will not feel alone\!
\- We have many groups in this city\. Members of our other groups who RSVP are included as guests of the organisers in order to give you an indication of expected people\.
\- This evening is for ladies and gents in the 21 to 40 age group\. While some will be at the younger end of this range there will also be others at the other end of the range and lots in\-between\! You will naturally gel with others of your own age range and so you will always find many attendees who fit your range\.
\- We are not a 'dating' group\. We are focused on helping ladies and gents meet other like minded ladies and gents\. You will generally find a good gender balance \(maybe not perfect\) at all our events\.
Why do we have tickets?
1. Cover our costs - Our host is compensated for their time and work. We also pay meetup and have dedicated staff to manage our events, hosts, venues and communication.
2. Group Safety - By securing your ticket we have a record and you contribute to a well organized evening where everyone is more committed and better behaved.
3. Management - Tickets help us better manage attendee group size, book suitable space and activity.

Silent Walk in the ForĂȘt de Soignes
We will be walking through the forest for a little over 1 1/2 hours, silently, just noticing the world around us and inside us. The idea is to experience the magic of a different type of walking, The invitation is to slow down and notice what is going on inside you and around you.
Very often people experience a closer connection with nature and with self, with sometimes surprising insights.
*Please make sure you are fit enough to go the 4.5 km distance. We will be walking slowly, but we will not take any breaks.*
We will be meeting at the Hermann Debroux Metro at **14h**. (Exit straight ahead after leaving the platform--on the Loxam side).
If you RSVP as coming, please be on time. We will be starting our walk from there 5 min. after the hour sharp.
There is the renovated Maison de Prieur at the exit of the forest where we could gather for a drink or a meal after our walk, depending on what you feel like.
Looking forward to an inward adventure? Come and join us on **Saturday, April 25, at 14h**
My phone number is 0472 92 11 76, in case you need to communicate with me.

**A MESSAGE FOR NEWCOMERS:**
*In the three years of hosting this coffee group, I have met many people who struggle with anxieties when coming to an event for the first time. Sometimes, it took them more than one attempt before being able to join.*
*Occasionally, people reach out to me before the event, and I have always been grateful for that as it offers the opportunity to communicate with each other and to find the best and most gentle way for that person to join the group.*
*I would like to encourage everyone who struggles with this to contact me before. It would really be too bad if you can't join us, as it mostly gets better the second or third time you come.*
*In addition to that, if you arrive and notice any signs of nervousness or fear, you can always let me know right then.*
**THANK YOU AND SEE YOU ALL ON Saturday!**

It's a vibrant community of hermanas supporting and uplifting each other as they navigate their paths to leadership. A Columbus Business First Community Champion and Distinguished Hispanic Ohioan, her commitment to empowering others shows up everywhere she goes.
**Rachyl Kershaw** Founder of Greater Columbus Consulting and the architect behind the Confidence Lab Annual Summit, Rachyl has a gift for cutting through the noise, helping high-achievers stop performing success and start living it. Together, weâll explore:
âą What you intended at the start of this year - and what that looks like three months in
âą Whatâs surprised you, supported you, or shifted
âą What the next chapter needs now that you know what you know
If you were at our January gathering, bring whatever you made or wrote â your word, your artifact, your intention. Weâll look at it with fresh eyes. If this is your first time, you belong here too. Youâll start where we all started: with whatâs true right now.
Optional art materials will be available for anyone who wants to reflect creatively alongside conversation. If you brought something home from January, youâre warmly invited to bring it back.
The intention is the same as always: everyone leaves feeling more clear, more connected, and a little lighter.
Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience intimate.
What to Expect
âą A small, welcoming circle (not a large meetup)
âą Structured conversation so everyone has space to speak
âą Reflection, listening, and lived experience â not advice-giving
âą Optional creative reflection alongside conversation
âą A calm, supportive environment
Who This Is For
Women and underrepresented folks working in or around agile, product, technology, leadership, or organizational change â especially those looking for honest conversation and community beyond frameworks and buzzwords.
Good to Know
âą No preparation required
âą If you attended in January, we invite you to bring anything you created or wrote (or something that represents your intention at the start of the year) - itâs optional but invited
âą Participation is invitational; listening is always welcome
âą Creative activities are optional
