CafĂŠ Philo Copenhagen
CafĂŠ Philo Copenhagen
We meet on Saturdays late mornings to have a casual, meaningful conversation on topics of interest to everyone chosen on the spot by majority voting. So please feel free to propose your own topic! Everyone is welcome to talk, but if you prefer to just join and listen, that is perfect too. As the contacted cafĂŠs usually only give reservations to eating guests, it is very welcome if you order something to eat during our stay. This is however not mandatory. This event is in English. The exact place can still change.
Let's meet and talk books
Let's meet and talk books
Hi everyone! Let's gather and share our reading. As usual, we will meet at the fourth floor of the Central Library as it has good facilities for book clubs and it is also free to use. No extra cafe money to spend. Idea is to meet and connect over books. Each participant present 1-2 books they would like to recommend or just talk about, and then we'll see where conversation leads us. Again, there is no limitation to genre or type of book you are reading. The point is that we are free to read whatever we want and then share those reading experiences, so remember to be respectful to each other. I hope to see as many of you as possible. :)
Let's visit Copenhagen Comics
Let's visit Copenhagen Comics
I haven't yet been to this comic book festival but it could be fun. "Copenhagen Comics is more than booths and stages. It's where people come together to share stories, drawings and creativity - whether you come to meet your favorite comic creators, find new comics or just experience the atmosphere. You can get signings, participate in workshops, experience interviews, debates and live drawing on stage, explore exhibitions and meet both Danish and international creators. The festival also includes dedicated areas for cosplay, board games, Artist Alley...." https://copenhagencomics.dk/ We can meet in front of Valby Hallen at 12:45pm. If people are up for it we can find a place for drinks or snacks after. Remember to buy your ticket to the event, it is 165kr for the Saturday ticket. https://billetto.dk/ticket_buyer/offers/c9520866-9ac5-4165-b14a-10df11825573

Green Paddling 🚣🏻‍♀️ May edition
Green Paddling 🚣🏻‍♀️ May edition
....aaaaand we are back in the water also this year!!! Kayaking around the city channels is one of the most enjoyable activities in Copenhagen on a sunny day. GreenKayak, a NGO dedicated to raise awareness to ocean pollution, makes few (open) kayaks available across the city to paddle and help collecting waste floating in the water. Open kayaks are typically easier to manovre than other types, and do not require EPP2/EPP3 patents. I booked 2 double kayaks for 4 ppl in total. It is possible to use the facilities at Kayak Republic free of charge: restrooms, lockers and showers. **REQUIREMENT** \- Safety first \- Need to be able to swim comfortably \- Waterproof gear preferable \- Sun lotion and sunglasses \- Change of clothes in case yours get a bit wet during paddling \- Towel\, if you want to shower or just in case **COST** Unfortunately, due to the frequent last minute cancellation last summer, it was challenging backfilling participants with short or no notice, and it was very disrespectful to the group and GreenKayak NGO. **To reserve your spot, please transfer 150 kr. to my mobilepay 25717293**. The amount will be returned to you if you show up on time, or the event is cancelled for other reasons; **this remains a free non-profit event**. The kayak rental is free of charge provided that: \- we are able to pick\-up some waste during our paddling activity \- we share our experience on the So\.Me \#GreenKayak **AGENDA** 11:50- Meet up - please be on time 🙂 11:50-12:00 Briefing and getting ready 12-00-13:45 Paddling around Copenhagen channels and return to the start point 13:45-14:00 Return the equipment to Kayak Republic **DISCOMFORT LEVEL** \- 3/5 **TO LEARN MORE** [GreenKayak](https://www.greenkayak.org/)

Extreme: 80 KM - SĂśderĂĽsen in 2 days!
Extreme: 80 KM - SĂśderĂĽsen in 2 days!
Hey Randoms, Here we go again! The classic hike through the National Park in Sweden - Söderåsen - but with a twist. We now go hard, and complete it in 2 days, 1 night! We meet in CPH Central station and ride the train together. The hiking starts once we get off the train in Åstorp and finish Sunday in Höör. Both towns have decent train connections, and tickets are available from skånetrafiken.se **The Hike** There are pretty good water posts along the way. In several cases, the wells are shallow and the water is not safe to drink without filtering or some other type of purification. You need to bring a system for that, or let me know if you need support. Don't expect any food resupply options. Breaks will be short, no cooking. Food intake mostly happens as we walk, not stopping. Cooking is an option in camp, after the hike - as per your individual preference. We stop for foot maintenance as often as needed - be proactive, do not expect hot spots and blister candidates to go away. It's better to stop and tape it up. We are not likely to get a shelter. Bring a tent, hammock, tarp or similar. **Bailing out?** Bailing out is tricky on this one, and in case you want to bail you need to manage all navigation and logistics yourself - we don't have a support team er pre-planned exit options. **Randoms Rules Apply** Also, be aware that this hike is a Randoms hike, so the usual rules apply. This is not an easy hike, and we will get tired. Please be aware that this is a group hike. We hike together, we hike at pace of the slowest hiker. We all need to manage the gap behind us - not the gap in front of us. Group hike, we stick together, no gaps. Group hike, we stick together, no gaps. Group hike, we stick together, no gaps. This helps us achieve flow. And flow means a better average pace over time. **Flow** Try to keep your pack on during very short breaks. E.g. when somebody ties a shoe lace or does a quick change of clothes or socks, or stops for a second to grab something from the pack. When packs drop, it can take quite a while to mobilize the group again, and the breaks tend to add up to a very long day, increasing overall fatigue. Also, make sure to have your water and snacks available - without having to take off your pack. This has great impact on flow. Flow is faster over time. And flow means less fatigue. Less fatigue means a better experience. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. And as usual, you need to come self-supported. As if you were going solo. **Train details - from Copenhagen** 8:30 departure Öresundståg 1034 - platform: check information screens 9:54 we get off at Helsingborg station 10:18 departure from Helsingborg station Skånetrafiken Train 1812 10:43 we get off at Åstorp station - and hike! Tickets: Skånetrafiken mobile app is recommended. **The plan** Saturday: 51 KM Sunday: 30 KM - train home from Höör.

Drunken Philosophy: What’s up with all the AI hate?
Drunken Philosophy: What’s up with all the AI hate?
**Welcome to Drunken Philosophy** a casual, curious social discussion **Optional topic for this meetup: What's up with all the AI hate?** A recent survey found that 74% of Americans have a negative view of AI, and I want to know why. Come out and debate whether AI is good or bad. My hot take: a labor-saving tool that could potentially help cure cancer gets called dangerous because it might raise unemployment or cause a speculative investment bubble, that tells you a lot more about capitalism and the economic system we live under than it does about the tool itself. As a computer programmer, I think AI is a wonderful tool that has increased my productivity by at least an order of magnitude. I'd go so far as to say Claude Code is the best tool I have ever used. Debate me and name a better one. Is AI potentially dangerous? Yes, but so are a lot of tools. Chainsaws. Steam engines (early ones would occasionally explode and kill everyone in the room). Do you think cavemen sat around debating whether fire could be used as a weapon or for self-harm, and decided not to discover it? I have two friends who hate AI for opposite reasons: one thinks it's a fad and not useful, and the other thinks it's going to take over everything and cause human extinction. Come out tonight, have a friendly debate, and make some friends. No lectures. Friendly crowd. Drop in for one drink and stay if it's fun.
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
Walk & Talk About Life's Big Questions
[The Board Walks](http://www.theboardwalks.com/) are for curious people who love deep conversations. If that sounds like you, **bring a thoughtful topic** and join us for a 5-mile walk (10,000+ steps!). **HOW IT WORKS** **Step 1: Bring a topic** Before you arrive, think of **one** topic you want to explore. A question. A thought that's been on your mind. An obsession you want to geek out on. This is your ticket to the event. **Step 2: Circle up & share** We gather in a circle. Your friendly walk host gives a speech to set the tone. Everyone shares: your name, what you're grateful for, and your topic. That's it. 60 seconds. **Step 3: Walk, talk & float** We walk 5 miles. You naturally drift into conversation with 2-3 people at a time, pulled by topics that spark your curiosity. When you're ready to move on, just say: "I'm going to float!" **Step 4: Feel more alive** Two hours flies by. You're back where you started — but you feel different. More alive. More energized. More connected to yourself and others. That's why regulars join 20+ times. *For more details, read our [Orientation Guide.](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation)* **HOW TO BRING A GREAT TOPIC** A great topic = something you're genuinely curious about. Recent topics include: * "What are you passionate about right now?" * "What makes a good friend?" * "What's a belief you used to hold that you've completely changed?" * "How do you want to be remembered?" * "What would you do if money wasn't a factor?" Think of your topic like the dish you're bringing to our conversational potluck. If everyone brings an A+ dish (i.e. energizing, uplifting, expansive), we'll all walk away feeling lighter and brighter. **WHAT TO EXPECT** This isn't a fitness event with casual chitchat. It's a walking think tank where we explore life's big questions together, beyond small talk. *If you're looking for light banter or a standard networking event, this probably isn't the right fit.* But if you crave depth, genuine connection, and conversations that make you feel alive? You'll love it here. **FAQ** * Wear casual athletic attire and sneakers. It's a long walk! * We have multiple first-timers at each event. We work hard to create a welcoming, inclusive, clique-free space. * We welcome people of **all** ages, backgrounds, and industries who align with the [intention](https://www.theboardwalks.com/ground-rules) of this space. * Rain or shine, we've been out here nearly every week since July 2022. If the event is cancelled, we'll let you know. * Dogs, babies in strollers, parents, and friends are welcome — please text/email them the event link so they can RSVP and prepare a topic! **LOGISTICS** * If you'll arrive over 10 minutes late, we suggest skipping the event. It's hard to find us once we start walking, and your host can't answer messages during the event. * This walk is designed for everyone to *move together at the same steady pace* (about 20 min/mile). This format works best when the whole group moves in unison. If you have mobility limitations, we kindly encourage you to find an event better suited to your needs. * There's a restroom along the route at [Tuttle Park Community Center](https://maps.app.goo.gl/KTZJgLE1CrrbRNmJ7), which is about two‑thirds of the way from [Clinton-Como Park](https://maps.app.goo.gl/z8Cx8evwLiWundMe8) to our [turnback point](https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZXk7qUVszLQ8EJxHA). * Read our [Orientation Guide](https://www.theboardwalks.com/orientation) for full details. * If you enjoy the event, send **[this](http://www.theboardwalks.com/)** to a friend or sign up for our **[newsletter](https://theboardwalks.beehiiv.com/)**. We're in multiple cities with more on the way. 🤠👋 **IF YOU WANT TO GO DEEPER...** [The Board](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board) is the next step: a high-trust collective for renaissance people devoted to creating, connecting, and building lives that light us up. * This is a global HQ for people who crave big talk, deep connection, and dream collaborations with people across industries. If the walks feel like a spark... The Board is the fire. Apply [here](https://stan.store/ellebeecher/p/the-board).
