Devotion to Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary
Devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is held every first Wednesday of the Month at 7:00PM.
The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary are two significant expressions of Catholic spirituality, focusing on the love and mercy of Jesus and the compassion and purity of Mary. The devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus emphasizes Christ's immense love for humanity, as symbolized by His heart. This devotion is rooted in Scripture, where Jesus invites believers to learn from His heart, which is "meek and humble" (Matthew 11:29). It became more formalized in the seventeenth century through the visions of St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French nun. In these visions, Jesus revealed His heart as a source of divine love, wounded by sin but overflowing with mercy. The Immaculate Heart of Mary devotion focuses on the interior life of Mary, her virtues, and her deep love for God and humanity. It is particularly tied to her maternal compassion and sorrow for the sins of the world. This devotion became widely recognized after the apparitions of the Virgin Mary at Fatima, Portugal, in 1917, where she asked for the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart and for the faithful to offer prayers and sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

🏛️🍋 ASTORIA GREEK LUNCH SOCIAL 🍋🏛️
ASTORIA GREEK LUNCH SOCIAL
️
Sunshine on a Plate in the Heart of Greektown
Maybe you’re skipping the walk.
Maybe you just want the reward.
Either way — come meet us for lunch
.
We’re gathering at **Astoria Shish Kebob House**, a Greektown institution established in 1972 and one of the oldest, most beloved Greek restaurants in Toronto.
This isn’t just lunch.
This is sizzling souvlaki arriving at the table.
This is lemon potatoes that deserve their own fan club.
This is grilled calamari, moussaka, warm pita, cool tzatziki, and that unmistakable buzz of a busy Greek dining room.
Astoria has been serving authentic Greek cuisine for over 50 years — long before “foodie culture” was a thing. It’s classic. It’s generous. It’s the kind of place where you leave full and a little bit happier than when you arrived.
And it’s even better when the table is full of friendly faces.
If you’ve been meaning to try one of our events but didn’t want to commit to a full walk — this is your perfect entry point. Just show up hungry and ready to chat.

Sunday Brunch

Bad Girls Book Club March 2026
**Our March pick is *God of the Woods* by Liz Moore.**
**This month’s novel is an award-winning literary mystery that blends family drama with psychological suspense. It explores women’s voices and relationships while delivering an exciting, eerie, and deeply suspenseful story. The book is 576 pages in print or 14 hours and 35 minutes on audiobook.**
Early morning, August 1975: a camp counselor discovers an empty bunk. Its occupant, Barbara Van Laar, has gone missing. Barbara isn’t just any thirteen-year-old: she’s the daughter of the family that owns the summer camp and employs most of the region’s residents. And this isn’t the first time a Van Laar child has disappeared. Barbara’s older brother similarly vanished fourteen years ago, never to be found.
As a panicked search begins, a thrilling drama unfolds. Chasing down the layered secrets of the Van Laar family and the blue-collar community working in its shadow, Moore’s multi-threaded story invites readers into a rich and gripping dynasty of secrets and second chances. It is Liz Moore’s most ambitious and wide-reaching novel yet.
