Zazen Meditation + Dharma talk or Kinhin
The meaning of the word zen is meditation, zazen means sitting meditation. In zazen practice we begin to know ourselves, and to go beyond the limits of our personal ego. Within our tradition zazen is referred to as shikantaza, not doing, letting go of thoughts, dropping off body and mind. This sitting meditation is the focus of our practice. Language limits our ability to communicate the true nature of zen; it is something that is better understood
through practice. We are open to everyone interested in learning about zen.
Intro workshop for newcomers is available at 5.30pm each Sunday. The dojo is a sacred place and it is important to be considerate of everyone. We have many people that travel to practise together once a week or once a month. So for that reason it is really essential that we all know the structure of the sitting practise (when to sit, how to do Kinhin, the different bell sounds and their meaning etc), to ensure a silent, safe and meaningful meditation. And it's also great to meet everyone before the sitting practise. And answer any questions you may have.
We have zafus and zabutons (mats and cushions) for all to sit on. Chairs are available too.
Comfortable clothing for sitting, black or neutral tones best.
We greatly appreciate a donation of €5 to cover costs if it's possible for you.
Please arrive 10min before start so 6ish (if you're not doing the intro workshop).
You are very welcome to our dojo!

French Speaking Practice – Real Conversation & Confidence Building
Do you understand French but struggle to speak naturally when it’s time to respond?
Join a relaxed **French conversation group** where we use **real news stories** as a way to practise **speaking French** in a natural and structured way.
This is not a traditional lesson. It’s a guided conversation space where you **practise speaking** through real-life content.
## 📰 This session’s topic: a real news story
In this session, we will work with a short French news extract about a **train and car collision**.
## 🎥 Before the session
Before the meetup, you will watch a short French news video about a **train and car collision**.
This video will give you the key vocabulary and context so you feel more comfortable speaking during the session.
You will also receive a few simple comprehension questions to help you prepare your ideas.
## 💬 During the meetup
We will use the news story as a starting point for discussion and speaking practice.
You will be guided through conversation questions to help you :
* describe what happened in the story
* report facts in French
* express simple reactions (shock, sadness, surprise…)
* talk about people involved in the event
* situate events in time and space
You don’t need perfect French — the goal is to speak and build confidence.
## 🗣️ Activity format
The session will include :
* group discussion based on the video
* guided speaking questions
* interactive conversation practice
* a final speaking activity / role-play based on the scenario
## 🎯 What you will improve
By the end of the session, you will have practised how to:
* speak more spontaneously in French
* understand and react to real French content
* build confidence when expressing ideas
* move from “I understand” to “I can respond”
## 🌿 Atmosphere
This is a supportive, low-pressure environment. Mistakes are welcome and part of the learning process. The goal is communication, not perfection.
## 👥 Level
Intermediate French learners (you should already understand basic French and be able to form simple sentences).
## ⭐ Free event – feedback appreciated
This is a free session, and your feedback is very important for me as I build these conversation groups.
At the end of the meetup, I’ll kindly ask participants to leave a short review about their experience — it really helps others decide whether to join future sessions.
## 📩 Feel free to join or message me if you have any questions
Sunday Evening Zazen meditation

(10€) Spanish Conversation + Written Exercises
**Hey Spanish Learners!**
Ready to practice your Spanish while enjoying a great discussion? Join us for our next practice session based on a fast-paced short film about appearances, customer service, and an unexpected twist at a shoe store. We’ll dive into the consequences of prejudice as we analyze the story of a retail worker who decides to treat a humble delivery woman with total respect.
It’s a perfect opportunity for A2 students to move beyond the textbook, practice vocabulary related to shopping, clothes, and work dynamics, and debate an essential real-world question: why do we still let appearances trick us?
**The Plan:**
1\. Make a **10€** payment on **Revolut to @haleema2002**
2\. Send **your email** and **a pic of your payment** to Blanca on WhatsApp at **087 761 7792**.
3. **Meet us** on the **7th of June** at **15:00** at the Grafton Hotel Bar **to discuss** the video story.
This is an excellent chance to sharpen your listening comprehension and speaking fluency in a relaxed, social setting.
I look forward to seeing you there! **¡No te lo pierdas! (Don't miss out!)**

Through evidence based tools and research backed insights I will share what truly contributes to human happiness - not as a lecture, but as a lived, felt experience. Because in The Happiness Circle we don't just learn about happiness. We practice it, together, in real time.
Set on the grass in the beautiful surroundings of St Anne's Park, this 90 minute gathering combines gentle movement, meditation, mindful walking and group coaching into one warm, grounding experience. A space to meet wonderful people, build real connections and walk away with practical tools you can bring into your everyday life.
**What to expect:**
* Gentle mat movement to wake up the body
* Short guided meditation to quiet the mind
* Evidence based happiness habits and insights from WOHASU
* Practical tools to bring more joy into daily life
* Group coaching - putting it all into practice together
* Mindful walking and genuine human connection
* Warm, inclusive community energy throughout
No experience needed. No performance required. Just you, showing up.

June Book Club Meetup
Welcome, readers!
Our June read is ***Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible*** ***Voyage***
**by Alfred Lansing.**
A work of nonfiction, and one of the most astonishing survival stories in history, we follow Sir Ernest Shackleton and his crew after their ship is crushed by Antarctic ice. Stranded in one of the harshest environments on Earth, the men endure months of isolation, freezing temperatures, and near starvation—yet refuse to give up hope. Lansing brings their ordeal to life through vivid detail and firsthand accounts, capturing both the brutality of nature and the resilience of the human spirit. At its core, the story is a powerful testament to leadership, perseverance, and the unbreakable will to survive against impossible odds.
Looking forward to discussing with everyone!
We will meet at Zaftig Brewing Co in their event room in the back. We are welcome to bring in our own food, but **all** **drinks must be purchased at the bar.**
Happy reading! 📖
