Architect in the Age of AI
Architect in the Age of AI
**Live stream and very limited on-site seats available.** **Please use the registration page to join:** **[REGISTRATION PAGE](https://content.software-leader.com/juval-talk-june-2026)** **Topic: Architect in the Age of AI** **In short:** AI code generation presents businesses with a critical challenge: how to benefit from AI code generation, while containing the cost of AI. By default, AI generates very complex code that is not reusable, and it lacks design integrity. The cost of ownership of this code could exceed by multiples the cost of human-generated code. Instead of gains, developers experience strains trying to understand what the AI has generated. Companies now transition from AI euphoria to AI spaghetti. Throttling back token spending does not address the underlying complexity. In this dense session Juval explains what AI is doing wrong, and what businesses are doing wrong trying to leverage AI. Juval will then discuss the crucial role of the architect in unleashing the productivity gains of AI, using the best practices of software engineering. You will see how to future-proof your career, how to avoid being a casualty of AI, and how to be indispensable to your business, saving it from out of-control AI spending and complexity. Juval Löwy is the founder of IDesign and a master software architect. Over the past 20 years, Juval has led the industry with some of his ideas such as microservices – serving as the foundation of software design and development. Juval has mentored thousands of architects across the globe, sharing his insights, techniques, and breakthroughs, and has helped hundreds of companies meet their commitments. Juval participated in the Microsoft internal strategic design reviews and is a frequent speaker at major international software development conferences. He is the author of several bestsellers, his latest book being Righting Software. **Host:** This free lecture is hosted by [Software Leader](https://www.software-leader.com). We help architects to become better technical leaders. **Live stream and very limited on-site seats available.** **Please use the registration page to join:** **[REGISTRATION PAGE](https://content.software-leader.com/juval-talk-june-2026)** Seats are limited. Island Hopping, Burgers, and Live Music
Island Hopping, Burgers, and Live Music
(bad weather fallback date: 2 July) Dear ZOWSPers Every summer, ZOWSP goes island hopping. There are two islands at the end of Lake Zurich: Ufnau & Lützelau Every Thursday evening on Lützelau, there is free live music at the restaurant (more info: [https://insel-luetzelau.ch/restaurant/](https://insel-luetzelau.ch/restaurant/)) We will: - leave Zurich by train (S8) at 16:07 to Freienbach - start swimming from Spielplatz Seeanlage Freienbach to Ufnau at 5pm sharp - walk across Ufnau - swim to Lützelau - order food, drinks, and enjoy live music on Lützelau - catch a boat to Rapperswil Please note: - Signup on this meetup event is mandatory by Monday (3 days before we go), as we need to book boats to get back to Rapperswil. - Two swim groups: slower (\~3:00/100m) & faster (\~2:00/100m) - Total Swim distance: 2.5km, split into 2 parts: before & after walking across Ufnau - Bring a dry-bag to pack your phones, flip flops, clothes. - I suspect wetsuits will not be required given how quickly the lake temperature is rising. In order to participate in this event, you need to leave work early. Here are some excuses you can use: - I have a dentist appointment (overused & boring, but always works) - my cat is sick - it's my {important relative}'s {high-number rounded to the nearest 10}th birthday dinner in Lausanne - My neighbor just texted me because my dog won't stop barking, and they think a pipe might have burst in the building's hallway. I need to go check on things (the best excuse in this list, because it is too specific to be considered suspicious) Best, ZOWSP organising committee

Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! • What to bring Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible. See you at The Café on Saturday!
