Ascent of Mount Brocken ⛰️🌳From Berlin 🚆
2 EURO DONATION FEE PER PERSON IS REQUIRED (on site, in cash), to pay back the Meetup subscription fees and support my Events. READ THE DESCRIPTION WITH THE INFO (IMPORTANT). WHATSAPP LINK BELOW 📳 We take the HBX train that departs from Berlin Gesundbrunnen at 07,02 AM and arrives to Ilsenburg at 10,29 🚉😀 The train is available also in Lichtenberg, Wannsee and Potsdam. I attach the screenshot with all the stations. Once in Ilsenburg station, we take a local bus to save a bit of walking (since the actual Hike will be already very long 😆💯). I attach the screenshot of this bus connection, here the website of the local buses (note: these connections are not present on Google Maps) 🚏: https://www.insa.de/ We then start our Hike and this is the path 🚶‍♀️🚶 The Brocken Mountain is the highest peak in northern Germany ⛰️ with an elevation of 1,142 meters https://www.komoot.com/tour/2936906879 Bring your own food 🍔 and drinks 🥤, we will take breaks where we deem appropriate. IMPORTANT: please consider that the Hike is 24kms with 860 meters of elevation difference, come only if you know that you are physically fit 😊 People who do not want/can make the whole Hike can join and decide to come back earlier without making the whole route 😊 NFO ℹ️ℹ️ Route distance: 24 kms Elevation difference: 860 meters up and 860 meters down (it is a loop) Breaks ⛔: When and where we deem appropriate. On the way back it seems there are no local buses, in the late afternoon, from Parkplatz Ilsenburg Brockenwanderung to the station, so maybe we should walk 2 kms more. A direct train to come back from Ilsenburg to Berlin is available at 17,31 (HBX), but maybe (or even probably) it will be too early for us. Other connections are anyway available, changing train in Magdeburg 🚉 If you have to contact me, make it via Whatsapp, not here on Meetup. Pilgrim Hike: Potsdam – Seddin (17 km) – Staying on the Way
Pilgrim Hike: Potsdam – Seddin (17 km) – Staying on the Way
This pilgrim hike leads us out of the city of Potsdam into a varied landscape of lakes, wetlands, forests, and open walking paths. Moving through the Lienewitz–Caputh chain of lakes and wetlands and along quiet forest trails, we practice walking with what is: one step, one stretch of path, one day at a time. 📅 **Date & Time** * **Date:** Saturday, June 27, 2026 * **Start:** 9:30 AM in front of Potsdam Hauptbahnhof *(*[https://maps.app.goo.gl/VgmwLcdbHVJQRRg6A*](https://maps.app.goo.gl/VgmwLcdbHVJQRRg6A*))\* * **End:** afternoon at Seddin train station *(Return via RE7 toward Berlin; trains run hourly)* 🗺️ **Route Highlights** * **Komoot:** [https://www.komoot.com/tour/2771067392](https://www.komoot.com/tour/2771067392) * **Caputh Palace** and surrounding parkland * Lienewitz–Caputh lakes and wetland landscape * Forest paths and walking trails * Swimming spot along the route *(optional dip)* 🤔 **Why this pilgrimage?** It is easy to start well – and harder to keep going. Not because the way becomes impossible, but because attention drifts, motivation fades, and the next distraction is always close. This pilgrimage is an opportunity to slow down, reconnect with nature, and reflect on life’s important questions. We’ll walk at a relaxed pace, share thoughts, and take time for moments of silence – about 30 minutes to an hour *–* to listen to nature and our inner voices. 🔔 **What to know & bring** * Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy walking or hiking shoes. * Bring enough food and water for the whole day. * If you’d like to swim, bring swimwear and a towel. * Please remember your public transport ticket for arrival and departure. 📩 **Questions & Registration** If you have questions or need help with planning your trip, feel free to reach out. You’re also welcome to join our [WhatsApp group](https://www.alexander-steinfeldt.de/hikes/berlin-pilgrims/) for updates and connection before the hike. Evening hike, swim and sunset watching at Wannsee
Evening hike, swim and sunset watching at Wannsee
Let's enjoy the warm weather and treat ourselves with a walk in the nature! We will have a 10 km walk in one of my favorite area in Berlin - Wannsee. We will walk along Düppler forest and then along the Wannsee, enjoying views of the biggest beach in Berlin, Pfaueninsel Island and the famous lion monument. Towards the end of the hike, we’ll make a stop to enjoy the sunset (you can also go for a swim in the lake if you like). **Organisation fee is 1 euro** (on site, in cash) We will meet at S-Bahnhof Wannsee (when you arrive, take exit to Kronprinzessinnenweg, I will wait for you outside).
Swim @ Katjasee
Swim @ Katjasee
=== THE TOUR === We will drive to Katjasee for a swim and a picknick on the lake. I have a car and I wouldn't mind some company. We will depart at 09:00 (sharp) and drive to a parking space near the lake. From there it is a 20 minute walk. 17:00 for return is an estimate. We can stay as long as we like. Note that the place is remote. There are no facilities. You have to bring everything you need. === WHAT TO BRING === • Swimming wear, towls, etc. • Water, drinks and food • Good mood • 10 Euros in cash for fuel and parking fees === NO-SHOW POLICY === I enforce a zero-tolerance policy on no-shows and last-minute cancellations. If you RSVP and don't show up, you will be removed from the group. If your plans change, please cancel early enough to make your seat available for someone else.

Playful Hike #76 **A donation of 2 euro in cash is required at the start of the event. This is until we cover the 6 month Meetup fee that keeps the group alive, then we stop. Limited to maximum 6 euro per person for the April-October cycle, so contributions are more evenly distributed. Thank you for the support :)** **Invitation to the Telegram community. Be ready to join in :D **Please keep updating your RSVP** (Assist/Won't Assist) **as your availability changes. I might deny participation in future events for no-shows.** \-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\-\- **The Plan (13 km):** [Komoot Route](https://www.komoot.com/tour/3065770746?share_token=atLWIs2fVmCAN7m489z4UoHG7kmus3h0ktJr1MVoY4gKeHfxy7&ref=wtd&t_s=referral&t_cid=route_share&t_ref_username=706394060398) It's a megahot weekend, moreso inside the city of asphalt. We are taking refuge by walking under the trees, swimming and relaxing by two beautiful fresh water lakes near Berlin, right by Strausberg. We will **spend most of the time in the water or near it (more than one hour at a time) and keep walking to small distances between lakes and the stations.** While the starting walk to the swimspot is intentionally early (less heat), **it is possible for individuals to skip that section and meet us on the beach** by taking the [Straussee ferry, which is about 2 euro per trip](https://www.strausberger-eisenbahn.de/strausseefaehre/). **If you want this option, you should get out in Strausberg Stadt instead and find your way there**. **I won't coordinate this option but should be fairly easy to find us**, as we will likely do the first swim stop at point 2 in the map. **I'll be sharing Live Location on Telegram.** It is also technically possible to skip the second lake and take the ferry again or have a smaller walk by closing the loop around Straussee. So, it's a flexible day, where what matters is to keep chill and everyone can choose what that means for them :). **Now, extremely important! Bring sunscreen, a hat and a very good amount of water! Definitely more than 2 liters. The heat is going to be no joke, something like 41 C degrees!** There is no bathrooms or opportunities to buy water that I am aware of once we enter the lake area, so plan it well. **Tickets: DeutschlandTicket or ABC to go and return, 5 eur each way.** **Going:** We take the S5 until the last stop. We come back from Hegermühle, also in the S5. This runs every 20 minutes. We start moving immediately after the 10:05 train. Feel free to follow **our Live Location on Telegram to catch-up if late arrival**. **Disclaimers:** \- Participation is under your own responsibility\, the organizers are not liable for damages or losses\. \- Some pictures/video might be taken and displayed publicly for the purposes of community or promotion of the group\.
