After Work Wednesday's!
Get over the mid week slump and come down to meet some new faces and relax. We try and go to a different bar every week and you can join us anytime after 18:30.
**How to find the group?**
\*We have an area reserved just for us so if you are new and unsure please ask any of the bar staff for the area reserved under the organisers name or if completely lost on the night please contact the event host and they'll come and find you.
**How does it work?**
\*After finding the group either the organiser will approach you and ask if you are looking for the meetup or you can just ask anyone "Is this the meetup?" and normally that is a great conversation opener to join the group. After that it's up to you what you make of the event. That is pretty much it. Easy right? We normally encourage people to stand as it's much easier to mingle that way.
**Nervous about coming to the event?**
\*While it's quite intimidating meeting a bunch of strangers from the internet we are a very welcoming group. We normally look out for new people and remember that everyone in the group has been new in the group at one point. If are you'd like extra help just contact the event host on the night.
**Interested in helping out?**
\*Let me (Éamonn) know as it would be greatly appreciated.
**Something happened?**
\*Please report it to the organiser as we cannot do anything to prevent it from happening again if we don't know about it. Even if it's something small please let the organiser know as they are probably unaware.
We aim to have the location up by Monday afternoon before the event. The bars we go to are all based in the city centre.
**See you on Wednesday!**
Catherine Strong, Dung Queen of Dublin
COST: FREE- Tickets free on Eventbrite
This looks like a really amusing lecture!
This live interview will feature the story of Catherine Strong, Dublin’s official city “scavenger” tasked with running sanitation teams to clear the streets of human and animal waste.
Audiences will hear how over four centuries ago Catherine Strong earned her money through levies on shopkeepers and traders but when the dung began to pile up and the stench spread across the city, her career in public service ended. Professor Jane Ohlmeyer will tell the audience how things went spectacularly wrong for Catherine but how she in turn profited by setting herself up subsequently as a moneylender.
During her interview, Professor Ohlmeyer will tell Near FM presenter Ciaran Murray about the Dublin of the time, but also show how Catherine’s story, like many other women, became largely absent from history. She will speak about why she is trying to recover the voices of ordinary, non-elite women in early modern Ireland and why that’s the focus of her new European-funded project VOICES: Life and Death, War and Peace, c.1550-c.1700: Voices of Women in Early Modern Ireland.
Jane Ohlmeyer, MRIA, FBA, FTCD, FRHistS, is Erasmus Smith's Professor of Modern History (1762) at Trinity College Dublin. She was a driving force behind the 1641 Depositions Project and the development of the Trinity Long Room Hub Arts and Humanities Research Institute. Jane chaired the Irish Research Council (2015-21). In 2023, she received an Advanced ERC for VOICES, a project on the lived experiences of women in early modern Ireland.
Jane is the author or editor of numerous articles and 14 books. Her latest, Making Empire: Ireland, Imperialism and the Early Modern World (Oxford, 2023), is based on the 2021 Ford Lectures in Oxford. In 2023 she was awarded the Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Humanities. She is currently working with Briona Ni Dhiarmada on a book called From that Small Island. The Story of the Irish which is based on a 4-part documentary and a feature of the same name.

6v6 soccer, Wednesdays 8:00PM, SportsCo, D4
\*\*Each week we typically have 2-3 spots open to players from this app. This is why you will only see 2-3 attending. The others are regulars and we coordinate in a private WhatsApp group\*\*
We play a 6v6 game every Wednesday @ 8:00PM in SportsCo, Dublin 4. The pitch we use is spacious an ideal for 6v6 (ball/all bibs provided). To encourage passing and flowing football, goals can only be scored from inside the penalty area. Games are played in a friendly atmosphere and slide tackles are prohibited. We don't have stick keepers and use a last-man back policy. There is a core group of regular players who have played with us for years but we also invite a handful of pickup players to play from this app. If pickup players like the vibe they might have the option to subscribe on a longer-term basis.
This game has been running on the same pitch for over a decade. The games are good quality with good technical players and always played in a nice, competitive atmosphere.
3-4km Run and Beers
I heard a vicious rumour that we are over half way through May, and two-thirds of the way through Spring, meaning Summer is around the corner - Damn long corner at this rate!
Well, whatever the weather may be doing on Wednesday evening, we will be running as usual and enjoying a beverage, likely alcoholic, where we finish, at **Rody Bolands in Rathmines**. Everyone is always welcome to come along.
For newcomers, our Group Runs are great fun, safe for all, and once the run is complete, we can share a beer, have a good chat, make new friends, and look forward to the following week.

Building Confidence: Dance Workshop for Women
Join us on Saturday mornings for a self-awareness experience through dance, designed to help you feel free, confident, sensual, light, and fully alive. 💃🏽✨
This is a recurrent class happening in a lovely dance studio, filled with incredible females. We often stay for lunch together at a café of our choice, because community is part of the experience.
In the sessions, we usually explore:
• Grounded hip movement and natural body isolation
• Combinations focused on flow and expression
• Musicality and rhythm connection
• Confidence through dynamic footwork
• Your authentic, inner energy. This will arise naturally as you move without holding back
This class is open to **all levels**. Most students have no or little experience with dance. Choreographies are just a means of self-expression. Whether you already dance or you simply want to feel your body again, this space is for you.
Expect warmth, laughter, a little challenge and a lot of energy. Let’s move, sweat and awaken our vital force together ❤️🔥
**Location:** The Liffey Trust Studios, Studio 5
**When:** Saturdays
**Time:** 11:00

Men's Group meetup
**The idea for this group is to build a community where men can gather together and build connections & learn and grow from each other.**
How we start each meeting is by each of us checking in with our "roses and thorns" aka what are the good things and the bad things going on in your life recently?
Then we will go into a topic discussion.
