If you follow our [[Resale Process](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf)] and your place is rebooked, we’ll issue a refund. • Toilet Breaks: On the train, at the lunch stop, and at the end pub 📍 **Meeting Point** • Location: Victoria station. Meet between WHSmith (no 34) and Nero Express (no 29) - [MAP](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/StationPhotos/Victoria.jpg) & [photo](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/StationPhotos/VictoriaPhoto.jpg) • Time: Meet 8am, leave 8:20am for the 8:41am train • Return: 7:45pm arrival back in London (you’re committed until then) 🌟 **Trip** **Highlights** • Conquer the **three highest peaks in Surrey** — Box Hill (224m), Leith Hill (294m) & Holmbury Hill (261m) • Hike through the **Surrey Hills AONB**, one of England’s most beautiful landscapes • Walk through **Denbies Wine Estate** — the largest vineyard in England • See the historic **Leith Hill Tower** with its sweeping panoramas • A **superb training hike** for major challenges (Yorkshire Three Peaks, National Three Peaks, Kilimanjaro, Toubkal, Everest Base Camp etc) 🥾 **Hike Description** This is Outdooraholics’ **toughest day hike from London** — a formidable challenge often called the Yorkshire cousins as it rivals the Yorkshire Three Peaks in length and ascent. We take on the three highest points in Surrey: **Box Hill, Holmbury Hill and Leith Hill**, following ancient sandy trails and woodland ridges across the **Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty**. Surrey is the most wooded county in England, and this route showcases its very best trails. Starting from **Holmwood**, our route climbs first to **Leith Hill** (294m), the highest point in the South East of England. Here the summit is crowned by the 18th-century gothic **Leith Hill Tower**, offering some of the most far-reaching views of any of our hikes — south to the sea and the South Downs, and north as far as central London landmarks on a clear day. From there, we continue along sandy trails and woodland ridges to **Holmbury Hill** (261m), where the remains of an Iron Age fort overlook the forested Weald below. Our final peak is the iconic **Box Hill** (224m), renowned for its chalk slopes, sweeping views over the North Downs, and challenging ascents that make it a classic hiking destination close to London. The trail also takes us through the **Denbies Wine Estate**, the largest vineyard in England, before completing our circuit. Due to the length and intensity of the route, we usually do not have time for an end-of-hike pub stop — though if timing allows, we may fit a brief one in. **Toughness (Please Read):** This is a **very tough, long, and hilly hike** with over 700m of total ascent — comparable to climbing "Mount" Snowdon. Expect steep sections, some loose ground, and a short section where you need to use your hands it's so steep. The **pace will average 4.2–4.6 km/h** and **the hike will not be slowed down or cut short.** It is **not suitable for beginners or intermediate hikers**. Only experienced and fit walkers should join. If a participant is unable to keep pace or complete the hike, there are places they can arrange a taxi to leave the hike. If you have any doubts about your ability, we recommend choosing one of our less demanding hikes instead. 🧭 **Guide:** • Leader: [GRAHAM](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07796 098487 🍽️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch and hike snacks, it's a long hike • Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) 🎒**What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) 📲 **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) 👣 [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) 📖 [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) 📸 [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) 📄 **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

**🌳 Large Group Social Hike** One of our **bigger, more sociable** hikes. Prefer a smaller group? See our standard-size hikes. 🌸 **Spring Special – Bluebells** This route is one of our best spring hikes for seeing them. We pass through woodland areas with vibrant bluebell displays. 📏 **Key Info:** • Distance: 10 miles (16km) • Grading: [Intermediate](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/HikeGradings.pdf) • Ascent: 340m • Hiking time: 4.5 to 5 hours • Cost: £31 (includes guided hike + return train) • Refunds: Payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. Here we encounter remarkable landmarks including the quirky duck house — Britain’s smallest Grade II listed building — and the evocative ruins of **Otford Palace**, once a Tudor residence larger than Hampton Court and known as “the lost palace of Henry VIII.” From Otford we join the historic **North Downs Way**, tracing part of the medieval **Pilgrims Way** that itself followed an even older Stone Age track. The path leads to **Otford Mount**, where a Bronze Age barrow crowns the ridge and panoramic views stretch across the valley. Continuing onwards, we cross the nature-rich chalk grassland of **Kemsing Down** and pass by **Otford Manor**, high above the valley, before descending through woodland and fields. Midway, we pause for lunch at a traditional **500-year-old pub**, hidden away in the countryside. Inside, little has changed since the 1960s, giving it a nostalgic charm that feels like stepping back in time. With its rustic character, it makes for a unique and memorable break on our journey. Our adventure ends at a **family-owned vineyard**, where you can sample local Kentish wines with an optional extra - tasting flight and stone-baked pizza. Surrounded by vines and rolling hills, this picturesque stop — complete with a boutique shop selling locally produced gifts — is the perfect finale to a day exploring Kent’s landscapes, history and hidden gems. 🧭 **Guide:** • Leader: [GRAHAM](https://www.outdooraholics.co.uk/MeetTheOutdooraholics.pdf) • Contact (hike day only): 07796 098487 🍽️ **Food:** • Bring a packed lunch • Pub visit after the hike (drinks optional) 🎒**What to Bring** • Hiking boots/shoes • Water (2 litres minimum) • Packed lunch • Waterproofs (jacket and trousers) • Hat and gloves if cold • Train tickets are arranged – just meet us at the meeting point ⚠️ **Safety** Your guide is a trained hike leader and Outdoor Activity First Aider ❓ **Want to Know More?** • [New to Our Trips?](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/new_to_our_day_hikes.pdf) (perfect for first-timers, answers “what to expect”) • [About Us](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/about_us.pdf) (who Outdooraholics are, credibility, history) • [FAQs](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/FAQ.pdf) (covers common queries) 📲 **Explore More &** **Stay Connected** [Day hikes list](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/hikesbygrade.pdf) 👣 [Calendar - All trips](https://www.meetup.com/outdooraholics/events/calendar/) 📖 [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/outdooraholics/) 📸 [Facebook page](https://www.facebook.com/Outdooraholics) & [Photos group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/Outdooraholics) 📄 **Terms and Conditions** By signing up or attending you agree to our [Terms and Conditions](https://outdooraholics.co.uk/TermsConditionsOutdooraholicsHikingUK.pdf) © Outdooraholics Hiking UK Ltd 2026 E & OE

Hi ladies. We will meet in front of the Nature Center and head to the two Observation decks. We will then hike Hickory Ridge, Ripple Rock, Overlook and Sugarbush trails to get approximately four miles total distance. We will walk approximately a 18 minute mile pace. Please wear appropriate hiking shoes.
Hike Chestnut Ridge
Hike Chestnut Ridge
We will hike the Ridge Trail and Meadows Trail twice, for a total of 3.8 miles. There are some pretty good inclines so plan on getting a cardio workout :). This is a loop which is pretty easy to follow; thus faster walkers can take the lead and the rest (like me) will bring up the rear at a slightly slower pace. You could also just do the loop once for 1.9 miles. No one left behind. Optional lunch to follow in Canal Winchester. I'm working through the metro parks - this is the third one!
Hike Pickerington Ponds
Hike Pickerington Ponds
We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can! As always optional lunch after. This is the second Metro Park in the lineup for me - with 21 to go (plus more are being added).
Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
**Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in!** **We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind.** **If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward at Prost Beer and Wine Cafe. Www.prostcafe.com**
