LGBTQ+ Women's Social Evening
If you would like to come and meet up with some LGBTQ+ Women who enjoy a get together then do come along to our LGBTQ+ Women's Social Night.
While this is a Womenâs social, we donât want to be too prescriptive for these events as some people who are, for example, non-binary, gender-fluid or questioning may wish to come along. If this event is something you fancy, weâd love to see you there.
Don't worry if you haven't been along before this is a warm & friendly group and we all enjoy getting to know each other.
We know it can be a bit unnerving coming to an event for the first time, especially if the bar is busy, so we will always make sure the bar staff know where we are.
If you would like some introductions, ask for either Lianne or Emma and say hello.
We're looking forward to seeing you there.

AID FOR ROJAVA: Fundraising Night w/ Movie, Music & Dancing @ The Bath House
**This is a ticketed fundraising event! Get your ticket and make whatever donation you can here:** https://www.outsavvy.com/event/33294/aid-for-rojava-fundraising-night-wmovie-music-dancing
All across the world, imperialism, neo-fascism and the capitalists that these forces ultimately serve have had a booming few years. From the genocide in Gaza, to Sudan, to Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, Greenland and many more, the powers of the world are making moves and burning bodies. It's enough to make your head spin and it's easy to burn out hearing about it all. It's especially discouraging to see what's happening to one of the more celebrated "bright spots" in global geopolitics of the past decade, namely the Rojava Revolution and, apparently, its imminent end under armed aggression by the Turkish military and the US/Israel-backed Al-Qaeda-turned-technocratic liberals of the HTS militia which currently rules Syria. At the start of January, a full-scale invasion of the Rojava region began. As of the 20th, a [shaky ceasefire](https://www.newsday.com/news/nation/syria-kobani-kurds-sdf-aid-convoy-q74640) is in effect. This fragile situation may be our one opportunity to raise vital funds for humanitarian support to the people of northeastern Syria, who desperately need resources for medical care, food, and transportation to safety.
That's why LCC will be hosting a mega-night of fun and fundraising in partnership with The Bath House, Hackney Wick this February, raising money for the people of Rojava. There will be a film screening on the struggle between ISIS and the Rojava revolution at the [Battle of Tishrin Dam](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tishrin_Dam_offensive), a Q&A with its director, as well as music and dancing with food and drink available at the bar.
The ongoing offensive has resulted in significant casualties, including approximately 1,000 people killed, with at least 152 civilians reported dead and 322 injured as of January 18, 2026. The situation remains dire, particularly in the besieged town of Kobani, where ongoing attacks have led to civilian deaths, hunger, and a humanitarian crisis.
What is, or was, the Rojava Revolution? Some resources can be found [here](https://riseup4rojava.org/en/rojava-people-in-arms/), but in a nutshell Rojava is an autonomous Kurdish territory in north-eastern Syria where a broad coalition of forces have, since the start of the Syrian Civil War till now, been attempting to practice directly-democratic, libertarian-communist, feminist, ecological emancipatory politics as part of a generations-long struggle for Kurdish national liberation. The leading force in Rojava, the Democratic Union Party and its armed wing the YPG, have in the past made common cause with the US to [defeat shared enemies like the so-called Islamic State](https://www.nytimes.com/2015/11/29/magazine/a-dream-of-utopia-in-hell.html). Recent events have shown, once again, that the west is always a false friend, with the [US and Israel reportedly having given the go-ahead](https://hannohauenstein.substack.com/p/rojava-is-the-red-line-its-being) to HTS and Turkey to launch their ongoing invasion of Rojava.
The collapse of democratic, autonomous administration in Rojava is not the end of their revolution, which was always, from the beginning, internationalist. It demonstrates that, no matter how genuinely inspiring it is to see a small nation, with few resources, take on the world and build something we can barely dream of in the west, it is ultimately up to those of us living within the great imperialist core to take up that inspiration and put its principles into practice here and now, so that the next time the Kurdish people rise up in freedom, they will have friends to back them that are both powerful and true. In the meantime, we owe it to these comrades to give them every aid they need to survive the present danger, prepare for future ones, and make themselves able to fight on.
Donations benefiting the Kurdish Red Crescent can be made to our fundraising page here or on the night via cash or card. The most generous donors will get a shout-out from the stage! Capacity is huge, so come one, come all, share this event and bring your friends!

Free Human Towers Rehearsal + Social (Sunday)
Sunday rehearsal with Castellers of London. Meet us at the OBC Community Centre to help build human towers!
This get together is a great opportunity for you to meet new friends, socialise and have a go and explore your abilities as a human tower builder a.k.a Casteller!
For newcomers we have a team of trained Castellers who will introduce you to the group, guide you through the activity and help you safely take part in this unique Catalan tradition.
When you arrive just approach us as we are really friendly! If in doubt ask for Cuss! Please let us know if you are bringing guests.
After the rehearsal we go to a nearby pub for social drinks where everyone is welcome :)
What do you need?
1. Ideally a cotton shirt: to protect your neck and shoulders, the more durable the shirt/top the better. We do not recommend any thin items of clothing!
2. Jeans: allowing you to move freely without breaking.
3. Mask: We still require the use of a mask as you will be very close to your fellow Castellers - basically you will be hugging people!
The rest of the equipment is on us!
We take health and safety very seriously, both in relation to COVID-19 and also the activity- please be assured that the safety of all participants is of the utmost importance to us and we take all necessary precautions to minimize the risk, ensuring we all have a great time!
Our regular members won't be filling in the Meet Up to say they are going đ
So don't be put off if you see only a handful have said they are going.
A minimum of 25 on the day is normal. What the Meet Up may show is how many new people like yourself are going.
February Book Club: I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman
We will be meeting at The Racketeer! We will divide into smaller groups to discuss this month's book.
It will be very obvious when you arrive to the pub, where our group is, but please feel free to give me a call if you are struggling to find us.
For new members, shoot me a message on meetup and I will send through my phone number!

From Stability to Stewardship
A Biblical & Practical Path to Financial Freedom
This is not just a money class.
This is a restoration space.
The I AM Worthy of Ownership⢠Path is a 12-step, sister-centered journey for women who are ready to build financial stability without shame, fear, or pressureâand to do it in a way that honors both wisdom and the spirit.
Many women donât struggle with money because they lack discipline or intelligence. They struggle because of unhealed experiences, survival patterns, and the quiet belief that they are âbehindâ or âdisqualified.â This series gently challenges those beliefs while offering practical tools for peace, clarity, and long-term planning.
Together, we will talk honestly about:
Releasing shame and money anxiety
Building stability as a form of self-respect and spiritual discipline
Understanding money as a tool, not a source of worth
Managing debt with clarity instead of condemnation
Preparing for lifeâs unexpected moments without fear
Laying a calm foundation for future ownership and legacy
Each session blends practical financial education with reflection, conversation, and encouragement. There is no pressure to share personal numbers or experiences. You are welcome to speak, journal quietly, or simply listen.
This is not about hustle.
This is not about perfection.
This is about alignment, wisdom, and peace.
Who this series is for:
Women who are starting over or rebuilding
Women who want stability without stress
Women preparing for future ownership or housing decisions
Women who want their financial lives to reflect wholeness, not fear
No prior financial knowledge is required.
Come as you are. Bring a notebook.
Leave a little lighter than you arrived.
Light refreshments will be served along with 30 minutes of networking.

Book summary:
Adunni is a fourteen-year-old Nigerian girl who knows what she wants: an education. This, her mother has told her, is the only way to get a "louding voice" -- the ability to speak for herself and decide her own future. But instead, Adunni's father sells her to be the third wife of a local man who is eager for her to bear him a son and heir. When Adunni runs away to the city, hoping to make a better life, she finds that the only other option before her is servitude to a wealthy family. As a yielding daughter, a subservient wife, and a powerless slave, Adunni is told, by words and deeds, that she is nothing. But while misfortunes might muffle her voice for a time, they cannot mute it. And when she realizes that she must stand up not only for herself, but for other girls, for the ones who came before her and were lost, and for the next girls, who will inevitably follow, she finds the resolve to speak, however she can--in a whisper, in song, in broken English--until she is heard
Powell Gold Star Referral Club Meetup
We meet at lunch each week and each meeting follows a fairly organized agenda. First all participants pass their business cards around. Then each member and guest is invited to give a one-minute overview of their company and what is a perfect referral for the week. We always have a 10 minute presentation from one of the members about their business in more detail. And finally we pass referrals. You're welcome to visit. Nobody is ever put on the spot. Bring plenty of cards!
