The school was founded in the middle of the 15th century by Iizasa Chōisai Ienao at the Katori Shrine (Katori jingū) and has become the origin of numerous other martial arts schools over the course of its almost 600-year history. The training consists of the continuous repetition of fixed sequences of movements (kata) and includes the use of classic Japanese weapons such as the sword (iai-jutsu, battō-jutsu, ken-jutsu, ryōtō-jutsu, kodachi-jutsu), the long staff (bō-jutsu), the lance (naginata-jutsu) and the spear (sō-jutsu), as well as unarmed disciplines, tactics and spiritual aspects. **The Katori Berlin dojo** is the only official shibu of Otake Nobutoshi-shihan’s dojo Shinbukan in Germany and fully dedicated to the transmission and study of one martial tradition: Tenshinshō-den Katori Shintō-ryū. Through these efforts we aim to contribute to the cultural preservation of this martial tradition. The dojo has one officially appointed shidosha. **Our sensei**: Sebastian Graetz has been active in martial arts since 1997. After almost 15 years of taekwondo in Berlin, he started with Katori Shintō-ryū in Asia in 2014. Since then, he has studied in Japan with Ōtake Risuke-shihan and Ōtake Nobutoshi-shihan, and in Vietnam with Malte Stokhof-shihandai. In 2023, he received his Menkyo license and permission to set up a training group in Berlin the following year.

Join this Professional Communication session — to sharpen the skills for architectural pitches, elevator pitches, interviews. This time we meet in the Monbijou park. 💡 How it works The event is split into two parts: 1. **Communication (10 minute rounds)** – One participant answers a round of design and behavioral questions. Each other participant gets to ask him one question. 2. **Feedback Round** – The group provides feedback on communication, structure, and clarity. Constructive criticism is encouraged. 💡You will be asked: * **Light design problems** (high-level reasoning, not code) * **Behavioral questions** (“Tell me about yourself”, “Describe a challenge you faced...”) No need to prepare anything in advance — just bring curiosity and an open mind. 💡Note: location is the entrance to Monbijou park

Go up to the 1st floor (one level above ground floor). * **If you are starting from the Humboldt Bistro:** go to the other building. Find the escalator and go up to the 1st floor (one level above ground floor). * **Final Destination:** On the 1st floor, look for the Werkräume sign. **What to expect:** * We usually use **[Pomodoro method](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pomodoro_Technique).** **When you are late** and the session has started, just take a seat and start working until break time. * However, **feel free to work with how you are most comfortable with.** What's important is, we all become accountability buddies. ✨ **Notes:** 1. **This a public place so bring your sensory management tools (earphone, stim toys, etc).** We can´t control the environment if there are other groups having their activities. 2. **The Werkräume can't be reserved** so we will all help each other by occupying the seats. 3. Looking for a quiet, focused space to write? Come be part of our writing group—a dedicated time just for writing alongside fellow writers in your community. No readings, no critiques, no peer-review—just you writing within a supportive atmosphere. 11am-11:15am: Find your seat, set up your writing station, quick intro's. 11:15am-12:45 pm: An hour and a half of silent focused writing. 12:45pm-1pm: Quick debrief, pack and head home. After hosting successful events, I always think that we could have done better and relate it to our day to day life and make it educational. In this connection, I wanted to show off my investment and trade hat and organize series of Happy Hours around Investment & Trade.
