Book Discussion and Practice Group
Book Discussion and Practice Group
This year for the discussion and practice group we will read and discuss Christina Baldwin’s book, *Life’s Companion, Journal Writing as Spiritual Practice.* We will not only discuss the book but also do the practice of writing. The participants need to purchase the book and read sections, and do some or all of the writing exercises for that section, between meetings. Then come along to class to connect, share, discuss and be enriched by each other along the way. In class we may also do other processes to enrich the journey. Saturday nights once a month – 6.45 for 7pm start til 9pm. Dates: Feb 14th, Mar 21st, Apr 18th, May 23rd, June 20th, July 18th, Aug 15th, Sept 26th, Oct 17th, Nov 21st. The cost for the year is $180. To sign up for the group and pay, follow this link to the Jung Society webpage: https://www.jungsocietymelbourne.com/discussion-and-practice-group-new-for-2026 The blurb for books says: In this classic book you will discover the intimate journey of personal and spiritual development that is possible through the practice of journal writing. It offers readers guidance and inspiration to this powerful way of expanding our inner horizons and opening our minds and spirits to a deeper relationship with the world and the people around us. Complete with enlightening quotations, exercises, sample journal entries, and techniques to nurture and encourage the writer and seeker within you. Life’s Companion will help you transform journaling into a powerful tool for self-growth, heightened awareness, and personal fulfilment.

Summer Vision-Boarding
Summer Vision-Boarding
This workshop is centred around a powerful idea: **when you decide on the identity you want to embody, your goals become easier to reach**. Instead of focusing only on what you want to do or achieve, we’ll explore *who* you want to be — and how that identity can guide your decisions, habits, and direction. Together, we’ll move through guided prompts and facilitated discussion to reflect on the identities we’re ready to let go of, and the ones we want to consciously step into. From there, we’ll bring those ideas into form through a hands-on, artistic vision-boarding session — intuitive, tactile, and creatively freeing. This is a gentle but grounding space: thoughtful conversation, creative expression, and shared insight with like-minded women who are also navigating growth, change, and intention. No artistic experience needed — just curiosity, openness, and a willingness to reflect. We'll have the essentials for vision-boarding (scissors, magazine cutouts and paper), but encourage you to bring your own materials as well (think anything extra sparkly and fun). **What to expect** * Guided prompts exploring identity, values, and future self * Facilitated group discussion (with space to listen or share) * Physical, creative vision-boarding * A calm, supportive environment to reset and realign **Agenda** *10:00am* — Mingling & settling in *10:30am* — Facilitated discussion with reflective prompts *11:10am* — Group discussion *11:25am* — Vision boarding (creative session) *12:10pm* — Sharing, reflections & wrap-up Leave with clarity, intention, and a visual reminder of the identity you’re choosing to embody this season. **About your facilitator** This event will be facilitated by Nadi Pax (@findingnadi). Nadi is a writer, facilitator, and creator focused on identity, self-trust, and emotional safety. Her work explores how identity is shaped through survival, people-pleasing, and self-abandonment — and how it can be consciously rebuilt through awareness, embodiment, and choice. Drawing from lived experience, psychology-informed frameworks, and years of self-inquiry, Nadi creates spaces where women can slow down, reflect honestly, and reconnect with who they are becoming beneath conditioning and expectation. She believes identity isn’t something you “find,” but something you practice — through clarity, self-responsibility, and being witnessed in safe, intentional spaces. Her work centres depth, discernment, and the courage to choose yourself without needing permission.

In-person writing night at Nook!
At this in-person writing meetup, we will meet at Nook in Bushwick (45 Irving Ave Brooklyn, NY 11237). During this event, we will spend the first hour-ish writing, and the second hour sharing our work, giving spontaneous feedback on what we hear, and socializing. Bring a computer or pen/pencil and notebook--whatever you like to write with! Note that table space may be slightly limited. If you have a writing project/practice that you'd like to bring in to work on, please do. If you don't, that's great too! We will provide a few prompts and exercises to get things started. Writers are encouraged but not required to share some of their work after the writing portion of the session. We will give brief reactions to pieces including favorite lines/phrases, questions, what the piece reminded us of, and feelings/mood we took away. This will not be a full-on critique session, but a low-pressure opportunity to share and discuss our writing!

Wednesday Writing
Come relax after your day job by hanging out with some fellow Bushwick writers for some coffee and a group writing session. \*\*NOTE: Tipsy bean opens just for us on Wednesday night. Google says it's closed but it's not!! May not be open until 7pm though, so if it looks closed don't panic\*\*\* We'll write in three highly-focused 25-minute sprints. In between all that, we'll also talk about what we're working on and trade thoughts and tips on writing. It's a great way to shake off some procrastination and find the creative push needed for that writing project you've been putting off. All writers are welcome, as well as first-time members. Come prepared to write with paper & pen or a laptop...and at least an idea of what you'll be writing about.
