Let's show some love for the Copperhead East trail!
When: August 19th at 2:30pm
Where: Briar Chapel, Catullo Drive gravel parking.
Directions: Above link is correct but: Chapel Hill to Briar Chapel on[masked], Right turn onto Briar Chapel Parkway, Second paved left turn will be Catullo Run gravel parking lot.
What we will be doing: We will be building a rolling grade dip above the heavily eroded section of Copperhead East that parallels Bennett Trace. We will also harvest rocks to armor the area where the drainage pipes from the adjacent home discharge into the trail. If time allows, we will work on deberming and restoring the trail tread further up Coperhead East. (Don't worry, we'll explain all the trail terms in detail before we start working!)
What to bring: Bring water, gloves and sturdy shoes or boots (especially because we'll be working with rocks). If you have a wheel barrow that can hold up to moving rocks, please bring it. TORC will have all the trail specific building and maintenance tools.
How long: Expect no more than two hours of volunteer trail maintenance, plus a pre-work briefing and the hike to and from the worksite.
Expectations: You should be able to come out and help maintain the trails for a few hours while having a good time. Help the trails drain better while feeling good about taking part in their maintenance.
