BC Trail Workday - Bridge rebuild

Details
Briar Chapel Workday - Saturday, September 13th, 2025, 9am at the clubhouse. Breakfast snacks will be available.
What are we doing?
We are rebuilding a bridge that washed out during Tropical Storm Chantal! We need 6-8 folks to help with digging, moving, and fastening parts of the bridge for 2-3 hours. Anyone beyond the 8 or so folks will be tasked with stretch goals for the build. I aim to have all the bridge materials staged ahead of time, but there may be some day-of pickups/moves that need to happen.
What will TORC bring:
- a bridge-worth of materials
- digging tools
- a drill and an impact driver, bits, and screws
- other misc tools, straps, buckets, etc.
What should you bring:
- an extra drill/impact driver or 2 can’t hurt
- gloves, steel toed shoes preferred
- water & snacks for yourself
- A MTB/hiking-related sticker (yes, we’re tagging our new bridge)
Kid friendly?
This event is not friendly for young kids. Older kids that can follow instructions (how to attach stuff, where to dig, etc) are welcome to participate.
Newbie friendly?
This event is newbie friendly. The bridge design is in my head (I should learn CAD someday…) and ideally it will be a matter of dig, place stuff, attach stuff.
Post workday ride:
I’m looking for volunteers that are interested in leading one. I cannot due to childcare constraints.
