What we’re about
The purpose of Trails 'n Bells is to appreciate sunlight and fresh air, with fitness as a benefit. Rucking (Hiking with a backpack), hiking with any kind of weight including water, and the reason for the name - kettlebells, are the central activity.
Rucking, and weighted carries are very beneficial for stability, endurance, bone density, and mental endurance. Plain hiking is also welcome, and encouraged for anyone who isn't acclimated to trails.
The intensity of the hikes will alternate between meetups, so that people of varying fitness levels, and new enthusiasts can participate. If a core group of people regularly participates in the higher intensity outings, I'd like to increase the gradually increase the difficulty through progressive overload, longer distances, and more complicated terrain.
Hikes will begin with a stretch and warmup. Hydration is extremely important, I recommend at least 32 ounces of water, especially when it becomes hot outside.
I recommend shoes or boots that you are comfortable with on uneven terrain, preferably waterproof or quick-draining.
The first meetup is set for May 17th! Check it out.
