What we’re about
This group is for all who have interest in or practice Tai Chi and Qigong. While the gong, or work, of cultivating qi, vital energy, is often a solo practice, we grow more when in community. All levels of mobility and experience are welcome.
The Meetup formats are virtual or hybrid (in-person and virtual) and are designed for you to learn new practices or deepen a practice you already enjoy.

Cultivating "Song" through Tai Chi -- Free Webinar
Saturday, September 20, 10:00 am CTThe Taoist concept Song can be experienced in the body as releasing and opening. The body is free of tension related to misalignment or stress and has a quality of openness like a balloon inflating from the inside. Release aligns with the body’s receptivity to gravity*—yin. Open aligns with floating, zero gravity, or independence from gravity—yang. In this webinar we will explore the yin and yang aspects of Song and how breathing, alignment and movement in Tai Chi cultivate Song.
In Song we experience more inner connectedness and the wild presence of chi or vital energy. The feeling of chi is personal to each of us, but often feels like a tingle, buzzing, or warmth. Song and chi enhance awareness of movement in Tai Chi and everyday activities, such as walking, bending, climbing stairs, and opening doors.
The webinar will also preview a 12-week class series that starts on Monday, September 29, 5:30 pm at Twin Cities Friends Meeting (TCFM) in St. Paul, MN, or online via Zoom.
*See Galway Kinnell’s poem “Daybreak” for an image and feeling of increasing receptivity to gravity.
