What we’re about
At London UX Bookclub, we discuss a book that we've chosen to read together. We are an assorted group of UXers, Designers and Researchers, from newbies to ancients, and lots of others who are interested in learning more about User Experience, design and anything close to our field. All welcome!

I hope you all had a lovely break and a nice year-end celebration 🥳
Whether you swear by New Year's resolutions or whether you actively sabotage them (or worse, ignore them altogether!), I hope we can all agree to try to make 2024 the year of reading and discussing excellent books together. A year of meeting with wonderful book authors, of meeting new people through this group, and a year of inspiration and curiosity.
Happy New Year! 🥂
...and now, please let me to announce 🥁🥁🥁
✨ London UX Bookclub event with Dr Harry Brignull ✨
💥 Harry will join the event to discuss his book with us, run a hands-on and really fun workshop, and answer your questions. 💥
The intersection of Ethics and Technology was never as topical as it is today. There isn't a single aspect of our lives not touched by tech, therefore making it impossible to escape the impact of unethical tech choices. The leverage seems to be on the side of business, and groups often do not appear in plain sight. Many employ techniques that abuse how we think and behave, nudging us to take an action that might not be in our best interest. I'm thrilled that Harry is pioneering the Deceptive Patterns movement for us all.
OK, now, finally, to the book!
In Harry's words, here's what to expect: "Step into the shadowy world of deceptive patterns and learn how online businesses exploit consumers through carefully designed tricks and traps. In this eye-opening book, Harry Brignull unveils how these techniques work and why they’re used, naming and shaming many well-known brands along the way. Regulations are changing rapidly, and we're seeing a big rise in legal enforcement. But is it enough to protect consumers?"
Harry Brignull, the author
Since 2010, Dr Harry Brignull has dedicated his career to understanding and exposing the manipulative and deceptive techniques that are employed to exploit users online.
He is credited with coining a number of the terms that are now popularly used in this area and is the founder of the website deceptive.design.

AND Digital accelerates the development of world-class digital capabilities, and we power the product development of ambitious companies - from British Airways and Conde Nast, to The Telegraph, Gousto and more.
We all know technology is reshaping how we live, and how every organisation on earth operates. And yet, very few businesses today can deliver the software products at the pace and quality needed to meet their requirements. That’s because the right product is only one part of the equation. Organisations also need the right people - with the right skills, set up in the right environment - in order to thrive over the long term.
We work with our clients’ people to build impactful products AND high performing teams. We do that by blending technical craft and product expertise with an award-winning approach to talent growth and development.
