• Creating Great Product Team Cultures for Better Outcomes

✨This is now a free event! No ticket needed, just RSVP Yes! ✨ We welcome Dan and Jo all the way from Hong Kong to host this exciting workshop on creating product team cultures! Organizations including Pixar, Google, Alibaba and Microsoft encourage regular time and space for self and team reflection and learning. With such reflection we have an opportunity to assess which habits and actions are supporting innovation and a healthy work culture, and which ones are detracting from it. We have learned that creating healthy cultures to do our best work requires space, practices, intention, a vision and a plan for people to explicitly nurture and talk about culture day to day. This workshop is for both team leaders and individual contributors and will help you identify specific actions you can take to improve your individual, team and organizational culture. The core tenets of the “Make Meaningful Work” approach are: - Recognizing reflection versus transactional modes at work - Allocating time for self and team reflection - Using real-world project stories to identify actions and attitudes that foster a healthy work culture - Creating a plan to ingrain those actions and attitudes in the organization - Recording the learnings in a journal that you can continue to use after the workshop - Measuring the impact of your new actions and attitudes - Creating a visual canvas of vision, values, drivers and practical outcomes that contribute to healthy cultures This workshop also includes a 1 hour follow-up Zoom group call (at a date to be determined) to dive deeper into the practices that matter and to encourage the habits we wish to adopt to promote and sustain impact for individuals and teams. This workshop will be interactive and leave you with practical tools you can use to create and sustain a meaningful and productive team environment. 👯‍♂️Your Speakers: Dan Szuc - has been involved in the UX field for 25 years, and has been based in Hong Kong for over 20 years. He has lectured about design globally and co-authored two books including Global UX with Whitney Quesenbery and the Usability Kit with Gerry Gaffney. Jo Wong - collaborates with global teams conducting research. She is passionate about the environment, political and economic systems and how we can live healthier and happier lives while not adversely impacting less fortunate people.

  • How data can help you understand the user experience

Join us for a session full of value with Lana Gibson. Lana will share analytics case studies showing how analytics have helped different organisations improve their websites. She'll show you how analytics can help you understand your audience and meet your goals with case studies including: - Beginnings in GOV.UK - designing with data - Te Papa Venues weddings content - traffic and enquiry increases based on SEO research - Radio New Zealand audience surprise and how they changed their strategy as a result Lana has worked in digital for more than a decade, using Google Analytics, SEO, call centre data and social media data to improve online performance. She turns masses of numbers into actionable insights, and builds data cultures with dashboards, training sessions and insight reports that can be used by everyone. It’s not user stupidity, but design failure that causes many users to get frustrated online. Good design is driven by data, and she helps clients make use of their data, and blogs about what she learns along the way. https://lanalytics.co.nz/ Big thanks to Wellington ICT Graduate School for hosting us in the Master of User Experience Design space at 40 Taranaki Street, level 3.
