- New River AdventureWest Table Mesa Road, New River, AZ
This Saturday we will once again go back to higher elevation and cooler weather to conquer the New River Trail. This is a fun and challenging trail that will have us slowly climb through the high Sonoran Desert and into the Tonto National Forest to experience a 360-degree unobstructed view of the scenery below. We will start on I17 and finish in Cave Creek.
Technically, we will be on the Table Mesa trail for a bit if you want to grab your Badge of Honor here.
This is typically an intermediate BLUE trail traversing steep rocky climbs and rutted narrow shelf roads. Recent erosion and wash out sections have made this trail borderline RED though. There are a few sections requiring climbing 3+ feet rocks and boulders. Towards the end of the trail, there is a level 6 obstacle, a boulder garden for those that want to challenge their Jeeps and expertise. A bypass option is also available.
Extensive off-road experience is recommended alone with a 2.5-inch lift and 33+ tires. Optional sections will require front and rear lockers to conquer.
Upon completion of the trail, we will stop at one of the many bars/restaurants in Cave Creek to grab a few drinks and a bite to eat.
Please note that we're switching to our summer schedule and will be starting the trail at 9:00 AM sharp!
As always, please arrive with a full tank of gas at the designated meeting spot and be ready for a prompt departure. If you’re running late, please let us know by posting or messaging in the Meetup App. If your plans change and you’re unable to attend, please promptly remove yourself from the event so that others on the standby list can take your place.

Let’s escape Arizona heat this summer, see the country, and earn nine Badges of Honor while we’re at it! This will be a fun trip but expect to drive nearly 3,000 miles round-trip to complete!
June 6th through June 8th
We will start in Missouri with Jeep Jamboree and will conquer Guard Rail, Pee Wee’s Crossing and the new trail for 2023 Cougar Crossing. I was debating between doing this park with just our group or join forces with Jeep Jamboree. I decided on Jeep Jamboree because of how much fun we had with them on our trip in Tillamook OR this year and the $400 is a small price to pay for 2 full days of off-roading, 3 meals a day and having everything taken care of for you!IMPORTANT!!! Jeep Jamborees fill up extremely fast once registration opens, typically within an hour!!! The Ozarks registration opens on December 7th at 2:00 PM Arizona time. Mark your calendars, set an alarm and register for the event at 2:01 PM. Just pretend this is a Southwest check-in and you’ll be fine 😊

We will leave Missouri early morning and drive 3 hours to Kansas Rocks Recreation Park where we will conquer C2 trail and Rattlesnake Alley. These are both short trails and I expect it will take us around 4 hours to complete them and conquer the park. We will spend the night in the area, location TBD.June 10th
Drive south for 6 hours from Kansas Rocks Recreation Park to Arkansas Hot Springs ORV ParkJune 11th – June 12th
Explore Arkansas Hot Springs ORV Park and conquer 4 BoH Trail consisting of:
Fun Run
Rubicon Ridge
Snake
Quartz Canyon
We will part ways on June 13th and head back home to Arizona to enjoy another 100+ degree summer.LOGISTICS:
· You’re welcome to sign up for all or join us in any of the 3 parks above.
· All 3 locations have camping, RV parks, cabins and/or hotels nearby. I will most likely rent an RV trailer from Oklahoma City for the week or might even bring my own.
· The trail difficulty is somewhere between 3 to 6. A modified Jeep with a minimum of 33-inch tires and 2 ½ inch lift is required.
· Additional Logistics items will be added soon.
· Don’t ask about hitting Texas BoH trails. That trip is slated for either later in the year or early 2025. - Death Valley AdventureFurnace Creek Campground, DEATH VALLEY, CA
If you own a Jeep and haven’t done any of the Death Valley offroad trails than this trip is a must for you and is well worth the vacation time to spend it on! From narrow slot canyons and rugged peaks to salt flats and sand dunes, the extreme topography of Death Valley offers dramatic sublime scenery, and humbling silence. If rain is plentiful, wildflowers will be incredible. Enjoy stunning views from cliff face trails as much of the valley floor is below sea-level and the surrounding mountain trails that we'll be driving on rise to nearly 6,000 ft.
This is a trip I have made dozens of times and I plan on being in the valley for about one week this time. You can join us for the whole time or stay as long as you like. There are many trails in Death Valley and we will determine which trails to run based on their conditions when we arrive.
Below is the list of trails that we will pick from:
Echo and Hole in the Wall Canyons – Inyo Mine, Chloride Cliffs , Indian Mine, Titus Canyon, Ubehebe Crater, Race Track Playa, Mosaic Canyon, Scotties Castle (if open), Cottonwood and Marble Canyons, Agueberry Point - Skidoo - Charcoal Kilns, Zabriski Point, Dantes View, Warm Springs Canyon, Artist Drive - Devils Golf Course , Badwater (lowest point in North America), Keen Wonder Mine, Natural Bridge, Darwin Falls, Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Eureka Dunes, and more. From Dantes View you can see both the lowest and highest points in North America on a clear day. Some days will be mostly driving, and some will be about half driving and hiking. Hiking will involve some slot canyons, open alluvial fans, and easy boulder and rock face scrambling. Each day we will plan the next day’s activities. Offroad driving will be easy to moderate, any stock Jeep with offroad tires will work well.
We will be arriving on Thursday October 17th and departing Wednesday October 23nd with 5 off-roading days in-between.
IMPORTANT!!! Many of the trails are currently still closed due to flooding from last year but should be open by October. To be safe, please book accommodations with generous cancellations policies!!!
Furnace Creek is centrally located so that daily trips can be made from there without the necessity of moving camp. Full commercial services including limited groceries, fuel, dining, a bar, lodging, golf, and most importantly a thermally heated swimming pool are available at Furnace Creek. Also, up-scale dining and lodging are available at the nearby Furnace Creek.
We will be camping at Furnace Creek Campground (-200 ft elevation) which has some sites with full hookups for RV’s. Dry camping and tent camping is also available with onsite bathroom facilities.
Furnace Creek campground reservations open 6 months in advance and tend to fill up quickly! Please book yours ASAP!
https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232496If you don’t want to camp and Furnace Creek lodge is too expensive, the town of Beatty, NV is a cheap alternative, just be prepared to drive ~ 50 miles each way to/from Furnace Creek every day.
