Walk in Delta - Tsawwassen - Beach Grove Rambles

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SPECIAL WALK WILL START AT 11:00 AM (register 10:00 to 10:55 am) to accommodate walkers coming from Vancouver Island. ***

Walk 10 km or 6 km.

Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for an annual membership. If you would like to join us on our walks and you haven’t paid yet, please send an email to [vancouverventurers@gmail.com](mailto:vancouverventurers@gmail.com) stating that you'd like to fill out a membership form. In the subject line of your email, write MEETUP. Please allow at least 24 hours for a reply.

Please note: Although the number of attendees indicated on this page may appear low, be assured that you will be walking with many club members who have not RSVP’d. We rarely have fewer than 15 participants at any of our walks.

Route Description:
This walk goes through the very old community of Beach Grove in Tsawwassen, South Delta. Beach Grove originated as a cottage community before the George Massey tunnel was built. In the 1930’s and 1940’s, it was considered a remote location – you had to take a ferry to get there! We will pass by some of the original cottages, as well as walk a scenic dyke, some mud flats and briefly visit Boundary Bay Regional Park. The community has grown a lot since the “olden days” but provides a unique charm with lots of shady pathways on those hot summer days! We will also see the award-winning “Flandez House” (complete with rooftop piano) – an unexpected and stunning piece of modern architecture amid our “rambling” route!

Registration will be from 10:00 am to 10:55 am and the walk will start at 11:00 am to accommodate people arriving from Vancouver Island.

Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

NOTE: Once you have RSVP’d, our Meetup site will always show your status as “Unpaid”. This is not a cause for concern. The $1.00 participation fee for the walk is paid at the start point and to save us some work, we will not be recording on Meetup that you have paid it.
