What we’re about
This Meetup group is run by the Veg Society of DC (VSDC).
The Veg Society of DC hosts the events and pays the Meetup fee. You do not have to be a member of VSDC to participate in our events, but we encourage you to join. All of our events are vegan and we have a lot of fun! Membership enables you to enjoy members-only benefits like receiving discounts from our GreenRewards participating partners.
VSDC is a completely volunteer-run organization, with no paid staff. and is governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors.
Founded in 1927, the Veg Society of the District of Columbia (VSDC) is the nation’s oldest continuously operating 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization promoting an all-plant diet and vegan lifestyle through education, community-building, and social activities throughout the DC metro area.
VSDC believes in treating all people, animals, and the planet with respect and kindness. We are committed to creating a more compassionate and caring world.
We do this by creating a community of like-minded people who are on the path to an all-plant diet and vegan lifestyle. Whoever you are, and wherever you are on this path, we offer resources and fellowship to support you. We make your journey easier, more enjoyable and meaningful.
VSDC. Creating communities for your health, the animals, and the planet.

- VSDC Veg Singles Volunteer GardeningFranciscan Monastery of the Holy Land, Washington, DC
Get your hands dirty and meet your vegan (or vegan-aspiring) soulmate!*
The Franciscan Monastery has a vegetable garden and donates up to 8,000 pounds of fresh produce to local food banks and charities every year. They rely on volunteers to keep it running!
RSVPs will close on September 24 so we can give the Monastery a headcount of volunteers. Since they are relying on us, please only RSVP yes if you are confident you will make it, and change your RSVP if something changes and you can no longer come. You should plan to arrive at 10am so that we can all get instructions together, but if you are running late please still join us.
Attendees are free to form groups and go to lunch afterward, but nothing is specifically planned.
*Soulmate not guaranteed.
As a VSDC singles event, this event is for vegan and vegan-aspiring adults who do not currently have a romantic partner. People of any sexual orientation may join as long as they are single. Anyone 21 or older is welcome. You do not need to be looking to date; you can just come socialize with other singles.
Update Your RSVP
We need to let the Monastery know how many volunteers to expect, so please change your RSVP if you can no longer make it.Transportation
The nearest Metro stop is Brookland-CUA. There is also a parking lot across from the main entrance to the monastery.Liability Waiver and Code of Conduct
