This Meetup group is run by the Veg Society of DC (VSDC), 7/19/22.
The Veg Society of DC hosts the events and pays the Meetup fee. You do not have to be a member of VSDC to participate in our events, but we encourage you to join. All of our events are vegan and we have a lot of fun! Membership enables you to enjoy members-only benefits like receiving discounts from our GreenRewards participating partners.
VSDC is a completely volunteer-run organization, with no paid staff. and is governed by an elected volunteer Board of Directors.
Founded in 1927, the Veg Society of the District of Columbia (VSDC) is the nation’s oldest continuously operating 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization promoting an all-plant diet and vegan lifestyle through education, community-building, and social activities throughout the DC metro area.
VSDC believes in treating all people, animals, and the planet with respect and kindness. We are committed to creating a more compassionate and caring world.
We do this by creating a community of like-minded people who are on the path to an all-plant diet and vegan lifestyle. Whoever you are, and wherever you are on this path, we offer resources and fellowship to support you. We make your journey easier, more enjoyable and meaningful.

Please join the Veg Society of DC Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group for another great discussion.
If you’ve been looking for a way to educate yourself on animal rights and issues affecting animals in our world today with the support of a like-minded community, then this group is for you. The VSDC Animal Rights Discussion and Education Group will discuss thoughts, questions, concerns, and news related to animal rights. It seeks to provide a safe space for discussions around issues affecting captive animals, farmed animals, animals used in research, wild animals, companion animals, and more.
All are welcome, from those well-versed in animal rights philosophy and issues to those who are just starting off on their journey and are curious to learn more. Please come with an open mind, an open heart, and a willingness to engage with diverse opinions with curiosity and respect.
The plan is for the group to meet every other month. The topic of each meeting and any accompanying materials will be planned in advance and posted in event announcements via this VSDC meetup group. Participants are encouraged to offer topic ideas and materials for discussion at subsequent meetings.
Date / Time: Sunday, May 4th, from 2 to 3:30 pm.
Location: West End Neighborhood Library (Meeting Room 1)
2301 L Street NW, Washington DC**NOTE: no food is allowed in the conference room; only covered beverages (non-alcoholic) are allowed. You must be very careful to leave the space in clean condition.**
Metro: The library is just a few blocks from the Foggy Bottom - GWU Metro Station on the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines.
Parking: There is street parking which is usually free on Sundays. Please read and follow all parking signs.

- VSDC Monthly Vegan Potluck (Bowie MD)Private Home, Bowie, MD
Please join us for our fun and friendly monthly VSDC Vegan Potluck - this month in Bowie MD. It will start at 5 pm and will go until about 8 pm. There is no charge to attend the event.
Items to bring to the potluck:
- Vegan potluck dish (no animal products of any kind) to share. For food quantity, please bring 4 to 6 times the number of servings times the number in your party.
- A serving utensil for your dish
- Ingredients list or recipe for your dish - Please print or write it out in advance
- Beverage for yourself or one to share
- To help reduce waste, bring your reusable plate, cup, and utensils
[VSDC will provide basic supplies and drinking water.]Please Note:
- Be sure to help leave the space clean before leaving the potluck and take the containers and utensils you brought with you.
- Vegans do not consume any animal products or byproducts (no meat, chicken/poultry, fish/sea animals, eggs, milk or dairy products, honey, etc).LOCATION

Yes, there is plenty of free street parking in this residential neighborhood. Please read and follow all parking signs.METRO
This location is not easily accessible by public transport; the New Carrollton (Orange line) metro station is about 6 - 7 miles away.Please plan your trip in advance and ask any questions at least one day in advance. The organizers will do their best to answer questions but ones on the day of the event will be difficult for responses.

- VSDC Veg Singles Dinner at El TamarindoEl Tamarindo, Washington, DC
May 3-10 is Veg Restaurant Week in DC, and El Tamarindo will be having a special vegan menu for the occasion! If you are vegan or vegan-aspiring and single, come join us for dinner from the special Veg Week menu!
We will be in the bar room on the left when you enter the restaurant. Everyone will order and pay for your own meal individually.
RSVPs close Monday, May 5. If your plans change and you will not be able to make it, please update your RSVP to “no” so that we can give the restaurant an accurate headcount beforehand.
As a VSDC singles event, this event is for vegan and vegan-aspiring adults who do not currently have a romantic partner. People of any sexual orientation may join as long as they are single. Anyone 21 or older is welcome. You do not need to be looking to date; you can just come socialize with other singles.
Transportation
The nearest Metro stations are Dupont Circle on the red line and U Street on the green line. There is street parking, but it is very hard to find, so we recommend using public transportation.VSDC: More Than A Meetup
