• Songwriters 4th Thursday Meetup

    Jefferson Memorial Fieldhouse

In the summer months we are going to things a little different. We are going outside in the Park and play on the back porch of the Esdohr House (The Esdohr House is a historic little house with a covered back porch that makes for a great natural stage overlooking the Park and is located next to the fieldhouse). These Esdohr House summer Meetup events (June, July & August) will be more like an Open Mic with some of the Park patrons taking in our music. I will bring a PA, so we can be heard over traffic and other Park sounds. Singers and songwriters in all genres and abilities are welcome! Note: The fieldhouse is located across the street from the Jefferson Park Transit Terminal with Union Pacific Northwest (UP-NW) Metra Trains coming in from downtown and the northwest suburbs, a Blue Line “L” stop and 13 Pace & CTA bus lines.

  • Walton Island Saturday Morning Jam

    Walton Island Park

This a casual acoustic jam, in its sixth year of weekly gatherings, outdoors (weather permitting) in a beautiful park setting (with shade) surrounded by the Fox River and nature (waterfowl, too). We play both original and cover songs. All are welcome to join in or just listen. A couple of us organizers are serious singer/songwriters, and we would love to have more. We have musicians who can follow and accompany original songs. Attendance usually varies from about six to ten, with a variety of instruments. This a jam, so we prefer to play music most of the time, rather than talking about it, but we do some of that too. During the colder seasons, we move it indoors to a nearby location. During early Spring we may cancel due to weather, but we try to get outside fairly early in the season.

  • The Chicago Songwriters Collective 4th Monday Song Sharing Meeting

Come out for a special night for all CSC members! It’s the Chicago premier of “Nashville Notes: the Diary if a Mad Songwriter”. • Fox Valley Folk Festival Performance

    Island Park

The CSC will be spending the day at the Fox Valley Folk Festival on beautiful Island Park in Geneva. Three to four selected members will be playing a round robin showcase on one of the festival stages. Contact John directly at [masked] if interested in performing. Stage time is 11AM -noon, but we hang around till close. All members are invited out for the day to relax, enjoy, network, and be at one of the premier folk festivals in the country For those of us who have been there a number of times, the Festival is a beloved event - beautiful setting on the river, warm atmosphere, super musician-friendly folks running it, and a bunch of great music. We have a CSC canopy set up where we sell CD's and meet folks and it's a nice spot to do a bit of pickin' and grinnin' with y'all :) Bring your acoustic instrument - there are workshops and open mic stages to play even if you're not a featured performer. And the last reason to RSVP for the day - how often do you just take a day to get away, recharge, relax and just enjoy? If you're me - not very often. So sign up and we'll see you there. If you're in need of a ride or want to ride-share, make note of that on the meetup message board for the meeting for the date/s you're going. John
