SCENIC £5 WALK: HANWORTH PARK and RIVER CRANE
Details
PARKLAND, WOODLAND TRAILS,, STREAMS, FLOWERS, WILDLIFE.
A green picturesque walk from Feltham to Twickenham through Hanworth Park and along the River Crane.
WALK START POINT: Feltham Station (National Rail,(trains from Waterloo and Wimbledon)). When you arrive at the station look for Ken with Kens Events Flag/badge outside the station and not far from McDonalds
WALK ROUTE: The Crane River is sourced from the Yeadon Brook and runs from Heathrow through Feltham, Isleworth and Twickenham where it meets the River Thames. Our route also takes us through Leitrum Park and some picturesque sections of Crane Park, the site of the gunpowder mills which date back to 1766 and the Shot Tower (manufactured lead shot) which was built in 1823.
There were 55 explosions, some fatal, during the life of the gunpowder mills. Barrels of gunpowder were taken from Crane Park by road to Isleworth Wharf where they were loaded on barges and transported to London and beyond. The factory mills closed in 1926.
WALK FINISH:At a pub near Twickenham Station.
WALK DISTANCE: Approx 5.5 miles
WALK DROPOUT POINTS: We pass near London bus routes

We always end the walk at a pub with a convivial atmosphere where the socialising can continue. Be sure to join us in the pub for the whole experience!

This walk is suitable for the average experienced hill walker. Expect some hills. Do not attend this walk if you do not fit that description or if you have a medical condition (especially heart and/or lung conditions) that may impact upon your capability of completing the walk.
