Come join us in picturesque Portugal for for some beautiful coastal walks by some stunning beaches with hills at times and some charming villages by Lisbon and surrounding coastline !

Lets go with the flow !

We shall be staying as follows :

Wednesday to Saturday ( 3 nights ) Estoril
Saturday night ( 1 night ) Lisbon

Make your hotel bookings on booking.com in the months to come and leave a comment to that effect on the event page.

You may wish of course to arrive a day or two early or stay on beyond Sunday and further explore Lisbon.

Deadline to book hotel is 31st December.

Suggested return flights to/from Lisbon with Easyjet from/to Gatwick :

Wednesday 10.05am to 1pm
Sunday 4.40pm to 7.20pm

After arriving at Lisbon Airport we shall travel directly to Estoril.

We shall be taking buses and trains and maybe the odd taxi as appropriate to or from the walking routes.

There is no obligation to do all the walks.

Likely walks :

Wednesday late afternoon

Praia de Tamariz in Estoril to Sao Pedro do Estoril and back again ( flat walk ) 6 miles

Thursday

Azoia circular ( hilly walk ) 9 to 10 miles

Friday

Morning : Praia do Guincho circular then to Forte de Sao Jorge de Oitavos ( gentle hill then flat walk ) 7 miles

Afternoon : Visit to wonderful world renowned moorish and manueline style Sintra National Palace

It may prove best to take an uber to Sintra from Forte de Sao Jorge de Oitavos to avoid having to take two buses from there to Sintra.

Saturday

Morning : Azoia to Almuinhas Velhas via Biscaia ( hilly walk ) 6 miles

Afternoon : travel to Lisbon and visit the Cathedral that offers breathtaking views over Lisbon and take iconic no 28 tram and its legendary winding route up and down hilly Lisbon

Sunday

Morning : Free time - strongly suggest visit to nearby Belem and the amazing Belem Tower plus the amazing monastery and even try the famed portuguese yellow custard tart from the very cafe that created them

Meetup fee £40 payable in advance by bank transfer ( season ticket holders : £30 )

You should be able to walk 2.5 miles per hour and have adequate and appropriate insurance for this type of activity.

Walking and hiking in the Great Outdoors presents certain low level risks and by rsvping to this trip you agree to undertake such risks.

If you make arrangements with others for restaurants or taxis you should honour it.
