What we’re about
Want to volunteer in your community and make some great friends along the way? Whether you are new to the city or just want to expand your network, this is the group for you!
We Serve Austin is designed for busy Austin-area folks in their 20s and 30s who: a) want to meet other friends who share their passion for volunteering; b) go out and perform a variety of community service projects in the Austin area; and c) get together to socialize both after projects and occasionally during the month.
We try to keep a good balance between recurring and one-time projects, usually on weeknights or weekends outside of regular work schedules. And save some time after each event - we tend to go out for food and drinks afterwards
New event ideas welcome, let us know if you'd like to host a new volunteering event!

Central Texas Food Bank - Pantry Distribution
KIPP Austin Public Schools- South Campus, 5107 I-35 A, Austin, TX, USThis is the fun part! We pack boxes of food at the warehouse every month. This is where we get to give out those boxes to those in need! Cars will line-up at the school. Then we will load up their trunk full of food!
You will need to register through the Central Texas Food Bank to attend.
Sign up here in addition to the Meetup RSVP*Please* do not RSVP with the food bank until you are officially attending with our Meetup group (AKA not waitlisted)! We've had people on the waitlist register with the food bank, which causes confusion over whether or not people should be attending.
Be sure to RSVP to the food bank as well as this Meetup!
These events typically have a waitlist. So if you are not registered with the food bank within a few days of the event. you may be removed from this event. We want to be fair and allow everyone to have a chance to attend. This is an in-person event. Please only come out if you are comfortable interacting with others. See their FAQ below for more safety info.
Other notes:
- Be sure to arrive on time. They ask for volunteers to arrive up to 10 minutes early since there will be training at the start of the event.
- If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you will not be allowed to join us.
- Wear closed toes shoes and shirts with sleeves! This is one of their rules for safety since we'll be handling various things.

Inside Books Project, 3106 E 14th 1/2 St, Austin, TX, US*Be sure to arrive on time. There is an orientation.*
We will be volunteering at Inside Books Project! This is one of my favorite volunteering activities. IBP provides books to prisoners in Texas to promote reading, literacy, and education.
We will be reading letter requests from incarcerated individuals to find out what they would like to read. Then finding best fitting books from a library of donated books to send them.
Feel free to bring books to be donated!

Austin Wildlife Rescue Rehab Facility - Elgin, 111 Elbow Bend, Elgin, TX, USThis will be a "WILD" one! We will be helping out the Austin Wildlife Rescue at their long-term facility. Austin Wildlife Rescue rehabilitates and releases orphaned, injured, and sick wild animals and educates the public to coexist with wildlife.
See their instagram for a better picture of what they do! https://www.instagram.com/austinwildliferescue/
Volunteer groups generally help them with physical labor types of projects such as deep cleaning our animal habitat rooms, cleaning cages, etc...
Volunteer groups are not able to hold or engage directly with the wild animals but will be given a brief tour of the facility at the end of the volunteer activity time.
Note: All volunteer activity with AWR takes place at their Rehabilitation Center in-between Elgin and Bastrop, about 30 minutes east of Austin. Message me if you are interested in joining our carpool
