About us
Want to volunteer in your community and make some great friends along the way? Whether you are new to the city or just want to expand your network, this is the group for you!
We Serve Austin is designed for busy Austin-area folks in their 20s and 30s who: a) want to meet other friends who share their passion for volunteering; b) go out and perform a variety of community service projects in the Austin area; and c) get together to socialize both after projects and occasionally during the month.
We try to keep a good balance between recurring and one-time projects, usually on weeknights or weekends outside of regular work schedules. And save some time after each event - we tend to go out for food and drinks afterwards
New event ideas welcome, let us know if you'd like to host a new volunteering event!

Center For Child Protection
Center for Child Protection, 8509 FM 969 #2, Austin, TX 78724, Austin, TX, USI volunteered here once before and have been wanting to bring our group since. With everything in the news lately, I wanted to channel that energy into something local and tangible.
Impact: The Center for Child Protection is Travis County's only nonprofit involved in investigating crimes against children. They provide free forensic interviews, therapy, and medical care to kids and families. Our activity supports the families going through their programs. Small things that make a hard time a little brighter.
What we'll do: We'll likely be doing some arts & crafts for the kids:
1. Creating noise makers for an upcoming fun run
2. Decorating tote bags that kids receive when visiting the center. (they get to pick out gifts in a room and carry the gifts out in this tote bag)Afterwards: For those interested, we can grab lunch nearby!

Central Texas Food Bank - Warehouse Shift
Central Texas Food Bank, 6500 Metropolis Drive, Austin, TX, USWe will be volunteering in the warehouse and helping inspect, clean, sort, box and prepare donated food and non-food items for the food bank to distribute.
You need to register through the Central Texas Food Bank to attend.
SIgn up here in addition to your RSVP.
*Please* do not RSVP with the food bank until you are officially attending with our Meetup group (AKA not waitlisted)! We've had people on the waitlist register with the food bank, which causes confusion over whether or not people should be attending.
Be sure to RSVP to the food bank as well as this Meetup!
These events typically have a waitlist, so if you are not registered with the food bank by mid-March, you may be removed from this event. We want to be fair and allow everyone to have a chance to attend.
This is an in-person event. Please only come out if you are comfortable interacting with others. See their FAQ below for more safety info.
Other notes:
- Be sure to arrive on time. They ask for volunteers to arrive up to 10 minutes early since there will be training at the start of the event.
- If you arrive more than 30 minutes late, you will not be allowed to join us.
- Wear closed toes shoes and shirts with sleeves! This is one of their rules for safety since we'll be handling various things.
- Additional FAQs: https://www.centraltexasfoodbank.org/frequently-asked-questions-volunteering
- If the weather is nice, we may go out to grab food and/or drinks afterward! Our go-to spot has been Meanwhile Brewing, but open to suggestions.
