Description

Fast paced hike. Approximately 2 hours, over 6 miles and possibly over 7 miles. (No two hikes are identical.) There are early outs.

Terrain: Easy to moderate, mainly rolling hills.

Cancellation notices: If cancellation is necessary, it will be posted on the afternoon of the hike, or sooner.

Pets: Friendly, well behaved dogs are welcome. The park requires dogs to be leashed at all times. It is possible that we will encounter one or more horses with riders or carriages. They have the right of way and you are expected to control your dog.

We will try a route that (to the best of my knowledge) has NEVER been offered by any other hiking group

Meetup Location - small lot opposite the Masonic Lodge - there is also on street parking - can use 18 Secore Street. Nelsonville, NY 10516 as point of reference

What to bring - water -snacks, hat, bug spray, change of footwear for ride home

You are invited to join us for a moderate to strenuous 8-mile hike with about 1200-feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 5 hours.
We will meet at 8:30 for a prompt 8:45 AM departure. We will meet at the White Bar Trailhead Parking, 1369 (very approx.) Kanawauke Rd, Southfields, NY 10975. GPS: 41.23495, -74.14896. The hike will head north on the (W) White Bar trail using unmarked trails towards Stahahe High Peak. We use the (Y) Dunning to connect with the (R) Ramapo-Dundereberg through Tom Jones and Parker Cabin Mountains. Continue onto the (Y) Triangle to the (W) White Bar back to the cars.

Bring appropriate gear including a light/headlamp, micro-spikes, food, and water. Review/bring your map to be aware of topography and our location.
Check the weather and dress appropriately.

If Unable to Attend: Please cancel at least 48 hours prior to the event, so people on the waitlist can attend. If on the day of the event, you cannot make it, please take your name off the going list. Not attending hikers will be marked as “No-Show.” People with multiple “No-Show” will not be allowed on future hikes. Thanks....
