Hook Mountain - Views, Water, Stone Trail -N More

Details

This hike should appeal to many as:

  1. It is only 15 minutes from the Tappan Zee Bridge - we don't use the C word
  2. It offers Views, Views and more Views

Estimated Distance - 5.5 to 6.2 miles groups

If you have been with me for (Fahnestock, or Ward Pound Ridge) you will be fine here. Not a beginner event -there is cumulative elevation for the day.

Note: Parking is limited - I am estimating 15-17 people unless you are part of a carpool

I can take people out of either Mt. Kisco or Tarrytown - (Tarrytown CVS) lot close to the Bridge)

Since parking is a premium, I will put added weight on those with a solid history of attendance and those that are part of a carpool. Also -I am seeing a spike once again in people who double-book Meetup Events if that is you -you may not make the cut for this hike.

Everyone starts on the waitlist - I will wait a day or two before filling out the list.

Trailhead GPS Coordinates

Or simply use - Knickerbocker Fire House - 86 Rockland Lake Rd, Valley Cottage, NY 10989 - that is the address for the fire station -right next to the trailhead

Driving Directions - From Westchester via the Tappan Zee Bridge

Take the Palisades Interstate Parkway north to Exit 4, and turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto US 9W. Continue north on US 9W for about 10 miles (2.8 miles beyond the intersection with NY 59 in Nyack).

At the bottom of a hill, turn right and enter Rockland Lake State Park.

Continue ahead on the main park road, which curves to the right, and proceed for 1.4 miles to a three-way intersection.

Here, the main road bears left, but you should continue ahead onto Landing Road (marked by a “No Outlet” sign).

After passing a fire station to the right, park in the spaces provided on the right side of the road, just before a barricade across the road.

Note: Parking at this location is limited to about 30 cars.

Suggested Donation - $2.00 - Can Venmo Steven-Tartas
