Anthony’s Nose from Toll House. AT down to 9D and up Face

You are invited to join us for a difficult 8-mile hike with about 2200 feet elevation gain. This hike will take about 5 hours and includes rock scrambling.
We will meet at 8:30 for a prompt 8:45 AM departure; at the historic Bear Mountain Toll House, 28 Bear Mountain Bridge Road, Route 6/202, Cortland, NY 10567. GPS: 41.30142,-73.9513.
The (B) Camp Smith Trail starts behind the toll house. Up through a rock field to begin an ascent of Manitou Mountain. There will be views of Iona Island to enjoy. Continuing, we will descend to cross Broccy Creek and start our climb out of the ravine. At rock outcroppings there will be views of the Hudson River, Iona Island, and Bear Mountain-Harriman State Park. We will continue our climb up to Anthony’s Nose rock slabs. Our hike will continue on the wood road (B) Camp Smith Trail until we meet the (W) Appalachian Trail and descend to Route 9D. We will continue on the (W) AT to the Bear Mt Bridge where we will climb, also requiring use of hands up the face of Anthony’s Nose to the rock slabs. We will retrace our steps to the Bear Mountain Toll House.
