Lake Skannatati - Summer Shade Hiking Series -Beat the Heat!

Estimated Distance - 7.5 to 9.99 miles - a good one for my Sunday regulars who wish to expand their comfort zone a bit - Not a Beginner Event

Start Time - 8: 30 AM

Estimated End Time - between 1:00 and 1:25

To mix things up. we will likely take a route that (to the best of my knowledge) has never been offered via any other area hiking group

Location - about a 30-minute drive from the Tappan Zee (we don't use the C word) and a 20-minute drive from the Bear Mtn Bridge

Group Size - Likely 16-24 - everyone will start on the waitlist - first slots always go to the regulars.

Those who have a history of no showing will not make the top 15 spots. Remember -please do not double-book Meetup events - I have spies in all the other Meetup Groups

Driving Directions

Proceed north on N.J. Route 17 to the New York State Thruway (I-87) north and take the first exit, Exit 15A (Sloatsburg). Turn left at the bottom of the ramp onto N.Y. Route 17 north and continue through the Village of Sloatsburg. Just past the village, turn right at the traffic light, following the sign for Seven Lakes Drive/Harriman State Park. Follow Seven Lakes Drive for about 8 miles to the parking area for Lake Skannatati, on the left side of the road. The turnoff to the parking area is 0.7 mile beyond the Kanawauke Circle.
