Kaaterskill High Peak - Catskills

Details
We tried this twice and had to cancel due to weather -perhaps the third time is a charm - Saturday September 6th - 8:45 AM
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE - do not sign up for this hike unless you plan to attend - for some of you -a great time to break out of your comfort zone and drive 2 hours for a hike -I know you can do it.
Note: This is the first time I have led this event.
Estimated Group Size - No more than 14 - That is a condition or requirement within the Catskills
Estimated Start Time - 845 - so please plan to arrive by 8:30 if you require additional prep time
Estimated Distance 7.5 to 9.5 miles depending on final route - estimated elevation gain - around 1700 -2000 ft for the day - - there may also be a small rock scramble and potentially a visit to Roundtop Mtn
I am using a placeholder end time as 2:30. Since this is my first time doing this event -I will be stopping at all the picture spots so the end time can vary unless you wish to go back on your own
Meetup Location - Kaaterskill High Peak Lot - N42.1619 W74.0806
Trailhead: NYS Thruway to exit 20. Take 212 west to Centerville, turn north (right) on CR 35. Make left onto CR 33. Follow through West Saugerties where it becomes Platte Clove Road. Parking area is on the right, just before the Bruderhoff
Turn onto Bloomer Rd. off Route 23A just west of Tannersville. At the Y in the road bear left onto Platte Clove Rd. Continue on this road passed the Catskill Bruderhof and pull into the parking lot for Kaaterskill High Peak. Look for the aqua-blazed Long Path.
Follow this trail for 1.05 miles where the Huckleberry Point trail goes off to the right. Stay on the Long Path as it winds its way up the mountain for another 2.1 miles. This route goes around to the north side of the mountain where a very obvious path leads up to the loop snowmobile trail that goes around the peak. Make a right on the snowmobile trail and look for a well-traveled path to the left. This will take you the .5 miles to the top. At the very summit of the High Peak (3655 ft.) there is no view. If you walk off to the east or south views open up in both directions.
