Victor is leading this moderate approximately 1600' gain/loss 9 mile hike in the Monument (no fees at the White Rocks/Gold Star trailhead and no dogs allowed, limited parking). Bring the Ten Essentials, lunch and water. Be prepared for various weather conditions, with layers, gloves and hats. If there is snow on the trail, bring microspikes or poles. The route has steep uphill and downhill sections.

  • Full Moon Ski & Bonfire Party

County Line Winter Nordic Ski Area, Mile Marker 30

This is a Grand Mesa Nordic Council event. It's been posted on Facebook, etc but I thought I'd share it to meetup along with my plans in case you wanted to join!

I'm planning to leave Junction about 230-3 so we can get there and get boots on, hang out a little at the trailhead. I'll head out for a quick loop (maybe 30 mins, or like 70 depending). Hang out at the bonfire that could be starting around 530 (that's what the organizers say). Then head out again under the stars.

A friend is bringing artichoke dip and bacon-water chestnuts. I don't know what I'm bringing yet.
Just think about whatever is tasty and easy to deal with at a tailgate!

    Skis or snowshoes
    Warm clothes
    Snacks - trail
    Snacks - to share
    Vessel for cocoa

    See you there!

From the main event poster -

Join the GMNC community for a magical evening under the full moon! Enjoy hot cocoa, a bonfire, a candlelit trail, and guided ski tours. This will be a free event for the whole family.
