What we’re about
We are focused on helping the homeless. WISH Bay Area prepares meals and gathers toiletries and other things the homeless need, and distributes them to the homeless and under-served in the South Bay. Our current focus is the Bill Wilson Teen DropIn Center in San Jose. With only volunteer efforts, we provide food and other necessities for the teens every Sunday. We send out Meetup announcements to fill you in on their needs.
Prior to the pandemic, there were two parts to our program.
• Once a month we prepared casseroles for the Bill Wilson Drop In Center in San Jose. We post the recipe, you cook it at home, then bring it to us at the address in San Jose we provide for you. It is a great way to help teens that are literally living on the street. A range of services are available at this center.
• Another program took place in downtown San Jose, where we distributed muffins every Sunday to the homeless. We are part of a larger distribution coordinated by the Tzu Chi Foundation, and international relief organization.
