Building the First AI-Native Patent Law Firm
Kiln Co-Working Space, 2101 Pearl Street, Boulder, CO, USMost patent firms are adopting AI. One newly launched Patent Law firm, Landfall IP, was built around it on day one.
Christine LaBerge is Head of Innovation and Engineering at Landfall IP, where she is building and developing their AI system at the core: the Discovery Agent, a voice-first AI that interviews inventors and produces a full invention disclosure with prior art synthesis before an attorney ever joins the call.
Christine will walk us through what building AI-native means in practice, demo the Discovery Agent live with a volunteer, and then we’ll take a moment to apply the same approach to our own work and personal projects. What You'll Experience:
- How the Discovery Agent was built, including the three months Christine spent waging battle with an LLM
- How changing the input method produced better information
- A live demo with a volunteer inventor from the room
- Landfall's AI-native design principles: start with the outcome, build for augmentation at every layer, design for iteration, and treat compliance as a competitive advantage
- Small group discussions on what AI-native looks like for your company, your team, and your own career
About Christine: Christine LaBerge is Head of Innovation and Engineering at Landfall IP, with 20+ years as an operations expert in systems efficiency, security, and infrastructure. She leads AI tool development at Landfall, working alongside managing partners Michael Drapkin and Nathan Mutter. Her work sits at the intersection of deep domain expertise and a willingness to reimagine how that expertise creates value, which is how she frames AI-native design itself.
