About us
## Welcome to Women Empowered MCR
Supporting Women in Manchester and Beyond
Women Empowered MCR is a welcoming community where women come together to connect, grow, and thrive.
We believe no woman should face loneliness, self-doubt, or fear alone. Through supportive events and safe spaces, we help women build confidence, strengthen self-esteem, learn new skills, and create meaningful connections.
Most successful women have overcome challenges — and many have been supported by other empowered women along the way. Our mission is simple: women supporting women.
While most events are for women, we also host occasional mixed-gender events and welcome Empowering Men to participate in those spaces.
We are more than a Meetup group — we are a regulated nonprofit run entirely by unpaid volunteers who are passionate about uplifting women.

🌟🌸 WE Cultural Adventure: Visit to the Manchester Museum 🌸🌟
The Manchester Museum, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9PL, GB🌟 Radiant Members - Free to attend and no deposit required 🌟
🌸 Blossom Members and Non Members - £2.50 attendance fee and £2.50 non refundable admin fee (Financial Assistance Available) 🌸"Empowered Women Empower Women", our motto at Women Empowered MCR for 5 years!
Join us for our visit to the Manchester Museum and step into a 130-year-old museum reimagined for today. Manchester Museum isn’t just about the past—it’s about people, purpose, and progress. We will explore powerful stories like those in the South Asia Gallery, co-created with 30 community members, and reflect on what it means to belong. See rare natural history collections, including live amphibians—and the critically endangered harlequin toad, found here outside Panama.
The museum has been transformed through a values-led redevelopment, with space for prayer, quiet reflection, and community connection. It’s also confronting its colonial roots, actively working on repatriation and centring Global Majority, diaspora, and Indigenous voices.
This visit is a chance to learn, pause, and be part of a conversation about who museums are for—and who gets to shape them.
During our visit, we will:- Take a focused walkthrough of the South Asia Gallery and other key spaces with context on their community-led curation
- See live species, including the rare harlequin toad, and learn how the museum supports conservation
- Reflect on themes of identity, resilience, and belonging in spaces designed for pause and presence
- Observe how values like equity, access, and accountability are built into the museum’s design and mission
- Connect as a group—sharing what resonates, over some lunch or tea and coffee in the museum café, deepening our understanding and maybe spark creativity!
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the museum together, meet new people and make new friends too 🤝 😊
