Monday 11th March 7pm our discussion topic is Getting Traffic to Your Website. This broad topic could include:
Seeing from where traffic comes:

  • Using GA4 to see where you are getting most of your traffic
  • Other tools that may help if you don't use Google like Koko analytics
  • Which guides you on where to direct effort

How each page appears in Google search results

  • Do the search results encourage people to click
  • Importance of the click rate
  • How to improve the text in each section

Also, promotion on social media:

  • How the page appears, with the right image of a particular link
  • Where and when to post

Perhaps also:

  • Asking for referral links
  • Building a newsletter

Mainly, this is discussion/sharing group, rather than a single speaker/you listen group. Everyone is invited to share their knowledge, expertise, tips, & tricks. On Zoom, you're welcome to share your screen to show how you achieved something.

Plus, anyone can ask a question or seek some quick advice. Beginner questions are great, as well as questions from people who know the topic. We hope everyone else learns something, and leaves people thinking "i could do that".

Thanks to Chris Cox of https://www.hihub.info/ for providing Zoom. I'll send out a recording of the meeting afterwards.

This format seems to work.

7pm: Welcome. Depending on numbers, everyone gets to introduce themselves, perhaps 10 seconds each, mainly describing their involvement with WordPress. If we have many attendees, then introductions via the chat.

7:15 pm: Start of sharing & discussion.

8.30pm The meeting kinda starts to wind up, sometimes we chat for longer. Then we decide next month's topic.

9:00pm We aim to finish.

We have a wonderful crowd on Zoom, from across the USA, UK, Ireland, and Europe. Alas, we don't have enough people close to Cambridge to justify actually meeting in town. So the meetup is only on Zoom.

Looking forward to seeing and chatting with everyone.

Simon & Chris
