🚨NO-CAR HIKE IS BACK, BABY! 😎

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY — this hike is NOT for the faint of heart, and I won’t be answering questions that are already covered below!

The NCC free shuttle to Gatineau Park has officially returned and so have the legendary hikes for people who don’t drive (or just don’t want to 😎).
Let’s take on our third hike of the season with a challenging trek through the Skyline Trail!
***
❗Please note: the shuttle does NOT stop near the Skyline Trail starting point, which is Parking Lot P7.

This means some extra walking will be involved. We will need to get off at Parking Lot P6, near Mackenzie King Estate, and walk to P7, which is about a 17-minute walk. From P7, we will then walk to the Skyline trailhead, which is another 12 minutes.
With the extra roundtrip walking and the hike itself, expect about 3 hours of walking total, with very brief breaks here and there.

Because of this, depending on your fitness level, this hike may not be for you!

***
🗓 Date: Saturday, July 25 2026 (TENTATIVE, weather dependent). I usually do my best to confirm whether the hike is happening 3–4 days in advance, so keep an eye out for updates!
📍 Trail: Skyline Trail (Most Difficult – 5.3 km loop (2 hrs.)). I’ll only be doing this one trail before heading out for the day, but you’re welcome to team up with others and explore more if you’d like!
Time & Meeting Spot details: Same as last year, we'll meet directly ON THE SHUTTLE! There are two meeting spots, but you can catch the shuttle from wherever you want:

  1. Ottawa side – Pīndigen Park: Be there by 10:00 AM (shuttle leaves at 10:10)
  2. Gatineau side – Canadian Museum of History: Be there by 10:05 AM (shuttle leaves at 10:14) --> I’ll be at this stop! 👋🏾

Note: The shuttle may arrive slightly earlier or later than expected. If it arrives early, feel free to board. We’ll meet at the Mackenzie King Estate stop.
🎯 FYI: I won’t be able to wait for latecomers. Once we arrive at the Makenzie King Estate stop, I’ll wait about 10 minutes max before starting the hike. If you miss us, you’re welcome to catch up—or hike solo!

***
🚌 Transportation: We’ll transit there together using the NCC free shuttle service 🚍🌸. No reservation is needed, but spots are limited—first come, first served.
🚗 Driving? If you plan to drive and meet us there, please be aware that there may be road closures. I’ve never drove to Gatineau Park myself, so I won’t be able to answer any questions about parking or road conditions. Make sure to check the NCC website for the most up-to-date information—it’s your responsibility to plan accordingly!
