San Francisco Young Black Femmes

Watching big cultural events together is one of the easiest ways to feel less alone in a city — especially as Black femmes in San Francisco.

We're hosting a community Super Bowl gathering for those who want to watch the game, enjoy the vibes, and maybe leave with new friends. We’ll be watching at the Golden Gate Tap Room!

I’ll arrive at 11am to reserve space, so please RSVP ahead of time so we can hold enough seats for everyone. The game starts at 3:30pm and should wrap around 6:30pm.

During commercials and halftime we’ll do tiny prompts to make it easier to chat and meet people. Nothing formal or performative — just fun and low-pressure.

Whether you’re a serious fan, a casual watcher, or someone who barely knows what a down is, you’re welcome. Come for the game, stay for the company, and hopefully leave with new connections and people to do life with in the city.

• Q: I don’t identify as a Black woman. Can I still attend?

Our gatherings are intentionally designed to center Black femmes in San Francisco. We also recognize that not all Black people who resonate with this space identify strictly as women or femmes. If you are a Black person who feels aligned with the spirit and purpose of this community, you are welcome. At this time, our programming prioritizes maintaining a space grounded in the experiences of Black femmes, while remaining respectful and inclusive of gender diverse Black community members.

• Q: Why is your programming community specific?

Community specific spaces are a well established and evidence based approach to fostering belonging, safety, and meaningful connection. Our work centers Black femmes in San Francisco as part of a broader commitment to strengthening Black community wellbeing, reducing social isolation, and creating spaces where people can show up fully without explanation or performance.
