Looking to make new friends, explore San Francisco, and connect with other Black femmes? You’ve found the right place!

Young Black Femmes in San Francisco (YBF) is a nonprofit organization creating intentional, healing-centered spaces for Black femmes, women, and gender-expansive people to connect with themselves, one another, and the city we call home.

We believe that meaningful relationships, shared experiences, and opportunities for joy are essential to our individual and collective well-being. Whether you’re new to San Francisco, looking to expand your social circle, or hoping to build deeper connections, YBF offers opportunities to experience the city and cultivate a sense of belonging in community.

What to Expect
We organize at least two gatherings each month, with opportunities for members to connect and plan spontaneous meetups in between (ask about our WhatsApp group!)
Our offerings vary throughout the year and may include:

• Social experiences: Brunches, dinners, cultural outings, and opportunities to explore San Francisco together.
• Wellness and reflection: Movement, restorative experiences, and intentional spaces for conversation and connection.
• Creativity and exploration: Arts, workshops, cultural experiences, and opportunities to try something new.
• Community care and service: Opportunities to give back, support one another, and strengthen our connections to San Francisco.

We believe the details matter. From thoughtful activities and shared conversations to small touches that make an experience memorable, we aim to create gatherings where people feel welcomed, considered, and connected.
Some gatherings are free, while others have a participation fee. We aim to reduce financial barriers to participation through subsidized experiences and sliding-scale pricing when possible.

Who Is This Community For?
YBF centers the experiences of Black femmes, women, and gender-expansive people in San Francisco.

We welcome community members who resonate with our mission and are interested in contributing to a culture of mutual respect, care, and belonging.

You don’t need to know anyone before attending. Come as you are, whether you’re feeling social, curious, reflective, or simply looking to spend time in good company.

We believe everyone deserves opportunities to build meaningful relationships and feel connected to the communities and places around them.

For Black femmes, intentional community spaces can offer opportunities to connect through shared experiences, cultivate supportive relationships, and experience joy and belonging.

Through our gatherings, YBF seeks to reduce social isolation, strengthen community connections, and create opportunities for reflection, creativity, service, and collective care.

Our vision is to become a lasting source of connection and belonging for Black femmes in San Francisco, a community you can return to as your interests, needs, and life evolve.
