Announcing a new Meetup for Semantic Web - San Diego!

What: Leveraging Existing Ontologies

When: December 3,[masked]:30 PM

Signature Point, business center
Signature Point 13006 Signature Point
San Diego, CA 92130
(858)[masked] ?

There are many existing open source ontologies that can be used to jumpstart an initial effort in this area, or to supplement existing efforts.

Several large RDF databases exist, covering multiple domains. Many of these were developed as a result of the EU funded programs, some come from other sources.

We will start the meeting, as usual, with a round table discussion, whereby everyone introduces themselves and expresses their area of interest. After that we can focus on the ontologies or RDF databases in the domains that participants are interested in. We will also take a look at some of the larger RDF databases such as the drug bank repository (almost 5000 FDA-approved small molecule and biotech drugs and over 700,000 triples) , an e-commerce RDF database and others.

We will also discuss various means of utilizing and leveraging this information.
