Announcing a new Meetup for The Baltimore Hiking Meetup Group!

What: 2010 Waterfall Series Hike- Frozen Whiteoak Canyon

When: Sunday, February 28,[masked]:45 AM

Centreville Park & Ride Lot
14700 Lee Highway
Centreville, VA 20120

This is the third in my 2010 Waterfall Series of Trips! Just got word from Shenandoah National Park we can park at the Boundary area in the Valley and the trail is doable, so it's on! Let's get up to as many of the 6 Waterfalls in Whiteoak Canyon as we can and enjoy a great Wintry Wonderland of Icy Waterfalls, Frozen Streams, and Snowy Mountains for maybe the last time this Winter! Please bring your camera and lots of batteries and memory card space and come prepared to walk in snow, so no jeans unless you want to get wet and cold! Ski pants or non-cotton hiking pants with long johns are suggested as well as gaiters! You will get some great pictures and take home some great memories, so let's go! Optional post hike meal as always! Picture is of Upper Whiteoak Canyon Falls from my June 2009 Backpacking Trip, so you know what you are in for, except frozen!

Please note we will be walking from down in the Valley at the Boundary Area up the Canyon, not from the top of the mountain as Skyline Drive is still closed. I expect we will walk up to the Upper Falls in Whiteoak Canyon and then back down, but if the trail is in good shape and the group wants to, we can walk down Cedar Run Canyon as well. The people and conditions will determine exactly what we will do, so your voice counts!
