New Meetup: A Taste of India

Announcing a new Meetup for Rochester Learns to Cook!

What: A Taste of India

When: August 29,[masked]:00 PM

Price: $22.00 per person

Where:
Jana's House
184 Park Street
Canandaigua, NY 14424
[masked] (cell)

My dad spent the first 10 years of his life in India, and I grew up eating Indian food. I learned to cook it from my mom (who was trained by an Indian friend of hers) and my friend (who was trained by her Indian MIL).

For a change of venue, we're meeting at my house in Canandaigua, NY. Indian food takes a long time to prepare, so I'm starting early; 4 pm until we're all done! If 4's too early, come anyway. It's a little more expensive than some of the other dinners we've had for the meetup, so I'm asking for a couple of dollars more per person this time.

I'm planning a varied menu, including vegetarian and non-vegetarian items, and of course, rice. Lots of rice! We may attempt to bake Nan on a pizza stone; if not, I'll pay a visit to an Indian market to try to give you an authentic experience. Some other items we'll be doing are biryani, saag, curry (of course!), a stab at Tandoori skewers, raita, and papadam. Of course, no Indian meal is complete without chutneys and Samosas! We'll also vary the heat from completely mild to dishes that have a little (or a lot) of kick.

Looking forward to seeing you all!

-Jana
