What we're about

Agile Denver is an outreach organization for agile and lean practice in the Denver area. The organization strives to facilitate quality events to our members, helping them become better agilists. Agile Denver is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit and annually hosts Mile High Agile (http://www.milehighagile.org/), which is staffed entirely by volunteers. The Mile High Agile 2020 conference is on May 18th and 19th at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Denver.

Agile Denver Kanban CoP

Kaiser Permanente Colorado IT Center

Agile Denver Kanban CoP: is a community of practice for practitioners interested in sharing and learning with others about applying lean thinking, lean management (leadership), and an agile mindset, along with pull, flow, kanban, and system thinking concepts to assist with catalyzing and effectively managing change to improve their business workflow processes, and to predictably forecast and answer the question “When will it be done?” It is one of several "special interest groups" (SIGs) of the broader Agile Denver user group and is also associated with the global Lean & Kanban University, and global Lean and Kanban community. Hi All, UPDATE: The Agile Denver Kanban CoP core members are planning to have their first public "online event" on Thursday (06/11), from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. This will be our first public event since our Feb "in-person" meetup prior to Colorado's Stay-At-Home order. Stay tuned for the "online event" link info to be posted here later. Over the last year the Agile Denver Kanban CoP (formerly the Agile Denver Kanban SIG) has moved toward emphasizing a "communtiy of practice" practitioner-based format (hence the updated name) encouraging and providing increased interaction and sharing from all those attending. While our typical in-person RSVP sign-ups are often 30+, actual attendance is closer to 15-25, as we know plans change last minute. However, since we also expect there to be some learning and adjustments for our first online event, we watn to "ease" into this by limiting attendance to 25, and ask everyone to please update their RSVP ASAP when plans change and you will no longer be able to attend. Please help us ensure anyone wait listed gets an opportunity to attend and that we minimize any spaces lost to no-shows. The Meetup site does a good job at managing the waitlist and quickly updating the RSVPs and notifying folks as spots open up. The first hour of our CoP meetup "usually" consists of a Deep-dive discussion (we will mix it up JIT when necessary). One or more CoP core members facilitate this discussion on a specific topic, related to applying and using lean, flow, pull, or kanban concepts, and selected by them from a list of candidate topics (options) that the CoP maintains. Please note the Deep-dive discussions are not limited to being introductions to lean, flow, pull, or kanban concepts. However, they are open to all who want to attend regardless of their experience level. After a short break, the second hour of our CoP meetup typically consists of a "Lean Coffee" format, where everyone attending puts forth questions, issues, topics, etc. to be considered related to applying and using lean, flow, pull, or kanban concepts, and these can be at any experience level. If you're not familiar with Lean Coffee, a quick Google search can provide a number of brief overviews. These Lean Coffees are a great way to help identify potential future Deep-dive topics of interest. If any of that sounds interesting to you, we hope you'll join us! Take care, Frank www.vissinc.com

Hi All, This is a general message reminding you that the Agile Denver Kanban SIG meets the 2nd Thursday of each month, except for the month when Mile High Agile occurs (usually April, but has been in May too). Many of us who attend the Agile Denver Kanban SIG also volunteer to help with the MHA Conference, so we limit our WIP in this month. And we also take off the month of December, again most of us are just way to busy this month as well, and we practice what we preach by Limiting our WIP. Please make sure to come back and check out this site often though for postings as our Agile Denver Kanban SIG meetup dates get closer each month. In the meantime check out our past meetups to see what's been happening with topics and comments. We hope you'll decide to join us too! Take care, Frank www.vissinc.com
