Canyoning - Death Valley over Thanksgiving
Death Valley Canyons Map (http://ropewiki.com/Death_Valley_National_Park?jform&skinuser=&sortby=-Has_number_of_rappels) During shoulder season, when it's too cold for wet canyons and not enough snow for skiing or mountaineering, Death Valley is a pleasant escape. The trip is rated as intermediate due to temporary anchors used descending the canyons. Exact canyon selection is to be finalized, however I would like to do one canyon with 20+ rappels, and a canyon in Princess Bride region. We will be car camping. Your participation is at discretion of the event host / organizer. Required Skills: Each canyon brings on it's own set of challenges. As this is an intermediate level trip, if I have not been on a canyon adventure with you, your profile must be completely filled out in order for me to properly assess your skills. Failure to do so will have you removed from the RSVP list. Canyoneering Gear - minimum required for participation in canyon events: Helmet (meets UIAA standards) Harness Rappelling Device Extra Locking Carabiners (3 or 4) Safety Tether Gloves (optional but recommended) Footwear appropriate to conditions Loud Whistle You should also bring: a pack, water (2-3 liters per person), Lunch/snack, clothing appropriate to anticipated weather incl a wind jacket, puffy, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.

    What we're about

Canyoneering Adventures is for people who want to wonder off the beaten path to explore canyons. We are looking for like-minded people who enjoy adventure and company of others also partaking in this fun sport. Weather dry or wet, Class A or Class C, all canyon adventures share a common theme of descending a canyon. Although based out of San Francisco, we like travel where the canyons: Utah, Arizona, Nevada, Oregon including Europe! Weather rappelling, stemming, sliding or jumping, safe means of exploring a canyon are encouraged. Our focus is to encourage learning from each other and discover new canyons in a teamwork atmosphere.

We are working in collaboration with Canyoneering Adventures Meetup group out of LA area. I hope the thru the team effort to bring greater knowledge to the canyoneering community.
