A River Side Walk to Step Stone Waterfalls
The winter echos on a fresh trail in the largest span of forest in southeastern New England. The Arcadia woodland is the states lungs at over 14,000 acres of untouched wilderness. Its remote setting is a place where one can find what they are looking for. The journey begins in an archaic era area where the stone erratic's seem to speak in a strange nature tongue. It's as if they are asking beauty seekers the secret questions about their own actual being. This rugged area presents numerous ridge lines and small streams all under the canopy of the wise hardwood trees. The second section descends into the peaceful Falls River Valley. Here, our evergreen lit pathway runs along the rivers bank and becomes easier on the feet. This path eventually leads you to the only officially recognized waterfall in Rhode Island. Here, we will soak in a beauty break, snack, and return the way in which we came. This event is rated at intermediate although most moderate hikers can complete this portion of the journey. It is 6 miles and distance and covers both hilly and flat terrain. Some agility is required and expect to stretch your legs a bit more than usual. Please dress in layers, bring a healthy snack, as well as a water to sip on. Orange blaze is required. There are a half a dozen or so spare vests on hand. Your nature guide holds certs in wilderness medicine and navigation in addition to being a professional map maker. The Earthen Fellowship is a community of like-minded individuals. We enjoy our free time together in the beauty of the open air. Our hikes are not a contest nor are we politically affiliated. We are simply a group of nature lovers looking to have an enjoyable adventure with our friends. Please feel free to join us as we welcome you with open arms.
